Also, I know the gov is probably prioritizing weapons/defense research first, but can you imagine some like Musk getting a look at this stuff? He'd probably already have flying Teslas.
Private sector would probably have a tech boom.
I'm legit torn. On one hand, again, the risk of our adversaries either beating us to the punch or acquiring reverse engineered tech from us may simply be too great. Hence the obscene secrecy/security. But on the other hand, if only a handful of scientists have ever examined these craft, in crazy restrictive settings, no wonder we haven't been able to crack any of it yet. Wheres if released to the public, yeah, the private sector would absolutely have an infinitely greater chance of figuring it out, with all the minds that could come together, the data that could be shared, and especially the money that could be made.
So what do we do?
At this point, like I said, hands will likely be forced, and I'm ready to let the chips fall where they may. Especially with A.I. advancing at the rate it is, the world is about to change rapidly anyway, so we might as well throw alien tech into the mix, go hog wild, and see how far we can get with all this stuff. We'd very likely end up starting WWIII, but who knows, maybe things become so advanced we ultimate end up with utopia.
