A major plot point of season 2 was obviously normalizing mental health and removing the stigma from therapy. Every time a tragic crime happens, something we always point to is mental health.

I think it's just a targeted effort by some people who have benefited from therapy to help reduce the stigma so more people seek help if they need it.

Pretty much every podcast I listen to with celebrities, they all have a therapist.

I do think that people who are creative like Hollywood though, have a ton more issues than the average person.
I think a lot of "average" people also refuse to acknowledge that they could use some therapy.

This. And/Or they refuse to acknowledge it because they can't afford it.

Just saw this article today.

I think there's some truth to that but I also believe creative people are much more sensitive to external forces and carry a greater burden.

I agree with this. My daughter attends a fine arts school and listening to her conversations with her classmates (4th grade), the majority of the kids casually refer to seeing a therapist pretty regularly. There is zero stigma associated with it. These kids are easily the most sensitive group of people I've ever known. It's been interesting to watch them grow up - the sensitivity comes with some drawbacks, but they are also (for the most part) incredibly kind and empathetic. There is rarely any of the typical bullying you get in most elementary schools. They do have conflict, but they talk things out and resolve issues better than I was able to until well into adulthood.

Now take that same group of talented and creative kids with the same degree of sensitivity and throw them all together *without* therapy, and I can't even imagine the emotional and behavioral ****show that would be.

I think this show destigmatizes the need to see a therapist by showing what happens as the result of seeing one from a non-believer's viewpoint.

And it makes sense because we all go see a doctor every time we have a lingering cough, we have a pain somewhere that doesn't go away, we have a growth coming out of body, or we just don't feel right and don't understand why. Why should seeing a therapist be any different?

If it helps people get the help they need, then why the hell not? As the previous poster said, it connects us better with each other.

It's like Higgins said, "The best we can do, is to keep asking for help and accepting it when you can."

We finally finished season 3.

A little too far left at times for me; BUT its one of my favorite shows ever...just really grew to love all the characters and really cared for them.

There's truly been nothing like it before this.

Both my wife & I are really going to miss Ted Lasso.

I've definitely observed this with lead singers.

Drummers, guitarists, etc. seem to have more stability but I've seen singers get on stage and lead a crowd of thousands of people but then be an absolute wreck in private.

Unfortunately, sometimes that leads to suicide. The ones who come to mind quickly are:
1994 - Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
1997 - Michael Hutchence (INXS)
2007 - Brad Delp (Boston)
2007 - Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot)
2011 - Jani Lane (Warrant)
2017 - Chris Cornell
2017 - Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)
2018 - Avicii (not a singer but same idea)
2022 - Naomi Judd (didn't know about this one until now)

The only band I can think of who has been open about their mental health issues is Metallica.

I don't think they're trying to trick the audience.

Just turn your brain off and enjoy the show.

I'm catching up, but I needed to mention that I came home after a day that had me stressed to tears and all I wanted to do was veg and watch this show. i don't want curveballs, I wanted something to make me feel warm and fuzzy and this is that.

Man, I am shocked at the near-unanimous praise. I thought the plotting was a total mess, barreling toward the conclusion they determined for each character without much thought about how to get there.

Nate is the clearest example - there has been basically no reflection on how horribly he acted to everyone in Season 2. I mean, he gave the note to Will, but that's one small drop. Ted, the players (including Colin), everyone else...we're just supposed to see him get a great job from a jerk, hate it, and think "aww, he gets it now, everyone welcome him back!"

All of the stuff around him is confusing as well - why does Jade actually like him after despising him for so long? She just really impressed by him managing West Ham? That...doesn't track with anything we know about her. Why would Colin and Isaac want to come ask him back? The team is on a 15 game win streak! They don't need Nate! That was devoid of any character motivation, just wanted us to be set up with Beard as the only holdout for the last scene to land.

What about Jamie? His crisis came out of absolutely nowhere. Couldn't we have sprinkled some inkling of this in prior episodes? As presented, he needed to have a crisis so he could go see his mom and have the "looking through the crowd" scenes land. And then we seem to have resolved it by the end of the episode so we can get to the next thing. Also, his dad in rehab? Why? Just...happy endings for all, I guess. Sort of a get out of jail free card for that dude.

The thing I liked best was Ted and his mom, particularly when they finally fought it out. That's Ted actually showing some character growth, which is great.

Side note on Jade - was I the only one wondering (hoping?) that she was actually gone and a figment of Nate's imagination? There were several scenes where he looked for her and she was gone. THAT I could have gotten on board with.

all these things are fair, but the feelings it leaves Me with lt lets me overlook them.

That seems to be the best bet going forward.

Interesting to see who returns and who does not, besides Sudeikis. I can't imagine they will be able to pull back the entire cast. Some have surely signed on to do other things.
