To me it was the writing... consider this:

In the final scene of the show, he tells his son to be a goldfish and to go have fun. I'm pretty sure he was telling us to do the same knowing this was the last scene of the show.

There was always a lot more intended than what was said in the show

I'm pretty sure the wedding cgi is intentionally bad, based on what it's depicting.

I think the whole point of Ned's letter is that Ted is the type of person that doesn't need to read or hear the contents of it. It would be more to benefit Nate than anything.

Similar thought for Trent's book. We just watched the whole story of the book

And if an actual copy of "The Richmond Way" made it to print, would you read it?

Yup, and I was wondering this too. They are apparently releasing "Look Out For the Little Guy" by Scott Lang sooo…

The spin-off will be about the afc Richmond women's team.

Lol. That would be one of the only things guaranteed to have less viewers than actual women's soccer.

Finally finished and the end redeemed the beginning of the season, but it's still frustrating that they wasted so much time with zava, jack and even though I enjoyed the Rebecca Amsterdam episode, it was also wasted time for a show knowing it was ending this season.

There were some great hilarious moments, but I think they missed on the execution on who the focus should be. Was disappointed with how little ted and Rebecca was in the season. Roy and Jamie saved this season, had their arc not been good, I doubt we'd have finished the season.

Overall, glad I stuck with it after considering stopping mid way through, but will probably never watch season 3 again,l and rewatch something from 1 if I need a laugh. This season imo has the least replay ability of the series.

The gradual fading away of Ted and the focus turning to other characters was the meta plot all along.

If it's anything like Roy coaching his niece's team, I'm in.

Ok, everyone. I've seen the scathing internet reviews and much of the consternation on this thread. Should I:

1. Start and watch Season 3?
2. Pretend it ended after Season 2, and don't watch ala the final episode of Seinfeld?

It's not near as bad as people are saying, yes, there is a lot of wasted time, but it finishes very strong.

By now, you should realize that this board would argue whether or not Raiders of the Lost Ark was a good action movie.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Consider where one might have seen "scathing internet reviews" and if there is a sense of "consternation in this thread" then specific snippets may have been linked or quoted elsewhere.

Even with some critiques of a couple subplots deemed unnecessary, I don't think I recall anyone saying they regret watching season 3.

When I saw that, I literally said out loud, "Well, there goes Rebecca's sale money".

I thought season 3 was as good as 1 in terms of feels.

All the seasons suffer in plot.

Anyone leaving a scathing review should be ignored. There were flaws but still is better than 99% of what's out there

The 3rd season is a disappointment, but only when compared to how great the 1st 2 seasons were. Ted Lasso was my favorite show going into the 3rd season, but I found myself checking scores on my phone during this one. Still probably worth a watch.

I didn't think the storyline with Zava was wasted at all. In fact, didn't Zava leaving lead to Ted "inventing" total football?

The Keely stuff was a total waste, though.

Zava showed there is no shortcut to fixing something, and, in a team environment, no single player is the answer.

Ive rewatched every episode of Season 1…some several times. And have rewatched several of Season 3.

There was no season 2 episode that compelled me to do that.

I wasn't the biggest fan of season 2, I think knowing that season 3 would be the end made me look past some of the things that didn't obviously move the story forward.

The last 3-4 episodes more than outweigh some mediocre episodes earler in season 3.

Watched Season 3 again today.. (ended my Apple TV subscription as well)

The last season reminded me a little of HBO Rome.. in that it felt like it was suppose to be 2 or more season and they truncated it all into a single season due to budget.

Season 3 should have been Zava, Nate as a gaffer and Jack story line.
Ending w/ Nate quitting his job and showing us what happen.

Season 4 should have been the conclusion (expanding on the last 3 eps.. and revealing more on Dr Jacob and Michelle .. also would have been nice if they told us what Ted is doing for work in America.

I was certain it would end showing Ted coaching the Kansas City MLS team

Loved the show and thought it was a good dismount. I agree with whoever said they could've stretched this season into two.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think Ted staying would have been a more fitting ending. His whole thing was that he was always putting others ahead of himself (even to his detriment).

I think him asserting himself and deciding to stay would've really been a good finish for his arc. Felt a little dissatisfying that he finished up still as a doormat re: Michelle.

I just realized that the pilots daughter was the same girl as seen in the mirror when Rebecca was psyching herself up for the big meeting about the super league.

Not sure how I missed that.

You and I have completely different takes on what Ted's ending meant. I do not think he went back because he remained a doormat for his ex-wife. Instead, I think he went back because he realized he should stop putting everyone else ahead of him spending time with his kid.
