Except that Ted Lasso is on Apple TV and everyone uses Apple products on the show.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

What did the dude mean by yes we did when Rebecca left him?

Yes we did have something special happen together or yes we did sleep together? I assumed since he put her to sleep absolutey nothing happened but that was a weird line.

I assumed it was a "yes, we fell for each other" and not a "yes, we slept together" type statement.

Ted "invents" Total Football after a Donald in Mathmagic Land sequence. Simply amazing.

Who knows.

I lean toward it surely not being sex - Rebecca did not appear anywhere close to blackout drunk and we watched him cover her with a blanket.

But "did we?" could have many other connotations

did we connect
did we have one incredible night
did we dance
etc.

I found it really odd that once they realized they had not exchanged names they did not at least do that, much less phone numbers. But that leads me to believe it is all a big feint to make us think she will never see him again.

It would be pretty easy to find his boat again I would guess since he appears to live on it docked there.

Interestingly he is not even included in the credits. That's even more bizarre. If we was a throwaway why not give him a name. And I thought every speaking role had to be credited. Hmmm.

And Pulp Fiction at the American restaurant.

Said the same thing to my wife when we were watching.

With my wife being a French speaker, we also cracked up at "Mercy buckets"

Great episode all around, so many great threads

He's credited. He has a screen all to himself.

Matteo van der Grijn

That IMDB page contains a spoiler, though.

He was, but didn't show the name of his character. Can't remember if he was listed as a special guest star, but it was the very beginning of the end credits: Matteo van der Grijn

Definitely the best episode of the season. Jamie teaching Roy to ride a bike was amazing. "For grandpa!" Jamie's character arc is inching towards being my favorite out of everyone.

Got to watch this a bit late, but wanted to mirror the sentiments. best episode of the season, and up for the for the whole run of the show. It's not a coincedence there was no Keeley PR firm subplot. Which again, not hating on her character or even that subplot...there just isnt room in the show for it, and the rest of the storylines take a hit when they try to fit it in.

Once I realized they were playing Ajax, and then staying the night in the city, I just had a gut instinct Ted was going to somehow learn about total football. The fact that it had the lead in with the triangle system was very well done.

Keely's PR firm did have a subplot - before Amsterdam anyway - firing Shandy and lamb ***** plus her and Jack hooking up. But it was interesting to me that she disappeared in Amsterdam. In retrospect that was, I think, part of getting Rebecca isolated and alone and not having a partner in crime for her night out.

Tangential minutiae on your second point... that caused me brain lock:

Ted' triangle system comment about pyramids being 3 triangles confused the F out of me - I was thinking like Egyptian pyramids which have 4 sides (pentagonal pyramid). But I guess he was talking about just a pyramid shape which can have 3 sides not including the base? Because really a 3 sided pyramid (tetrahedron) is still 4 triangles including the base. There literally are no shapes with 3 triangles only. It's impossible.

Brain lock like I said. Hmmmm.

I think you just misread my post. I was saying part of what made this episode so good is there was no subplot. It left time to fully flesh out the other stories, and allow them to breathe.

I didn't misread it - just our definition of a subplot is not aligned.

Keely's PR firm is already a subplot to me - so anything about it is subplot. Ted Lasso and Richmond AFC are the main plots.

My wife and I paused it and spent a good 5 minutes trying to come up with a three sided pyramid. I was worried it was my lack of geometric imagination.

The main point was three triangles leaning on each other for support not something with only three faces

Jason Sudeikis got the idea for Ted Lasso while walking around Amsterdam high on mushrooms.

Of course Rebecca boned that guy. Now she's pregnant. Duh!

I speak Dutch and spend a lot of time in Amsterdam. Totally enjoyed this episode.

I like that the team finally came around on the pillow fight.

Season 1, Episode 7, the one where they are in Liverpool, Ted gives the team an option of a team pillow fight or movie night.

My bad. I forgot I watched ep 5 and 6 back to back this week and was thinking about the scene with Keely firing Shandy. I forgot that I was busy last week and missed the episode and considered everything I saw one giant episode mentally. lol

Great episode where a bunch of the cast got moments to shine.

Liked the call back to Keely being on the TV advertising the city's night life.

Earlier in Ted's Text thread with Rebecca she was explaining him how to pronounce Ajax: "Ayax"

In Ajax's stadium they also instructed Rebecca how to pronounce Johan Cruyff's name. Ajax's stadium is named after him. He famously has a soccer turn named after him, here he is doing it
:
Also, he famously was on the 1974 Dutch team that lost the World Cup final to Breckenbauer's West Germany team. West Germany exploited the weaknesses of Total Football by controlling the midfield. We've seen Richmond many times give up easy goals that start with weak midfield defense. I also doubt their captain has the fitness level necessary for Total Football. In real life Richmond would probably get exploited by smart disciplined teams playing against their Total Football. Unless Ted introduces some Tiki-Taka type alteration of Total Football.

lol great analysis but....it will work if the writers want it to work because.... ummmm not sure how to tell you this but.... it's not real.

Pretty obvious though that Jamie's extra training is going to elevate him to the centerpiece of this total football and not the captain (Isaac) due to Jamie's fitness and skill. imho

The differences between Total Football and Tiki-Taka (Peps version at Barca) is basically more movement of players in TF vs movement of the ball in Tiki-Taka. Pep used that primarily to exploit Messi's advantages and Richmond could in theory do it that way via Jamie in this fictional world.

It's setting up for a big moment where Isaac is getting beat, tells Ted to sub him out, and hands the captain's band to Jamie.

maybe. it doesn't have to happen so dramatically though.

i mean a captain is not necessarily the centerpiece of anything on the field. For example on my real world team (ugh) Lloris is the captain of Tottenham and he is the goalie while Kane is the focus of the attack. Lloris was also captain of France national team until recently, and Kane still is captain of the England national team.

For Richmond the captain Isaac is a center back on defense and Jamie is a striker. Zava is the one who displaced Jamie and now he is gone. It might be that they are better served with someone other than Isaac, someone more able to interchange positions in the TF concept. But I don't think it will be Jamie in lieu of him.

Maybe Colin also steps up once he is free of his burden. He is a midfielder.

Didn't Ted make Roy (the then-captain) pick the new captain? So it would be Isaac picking Jamie, not Ted
