We saw Pony Bradshaw at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio last night! He's a really talented singer that kept the crowd engaged with some occasional stories but mostly they just burned through their set. Good energy and great sound all around! We'll definitely be seeing him again when he plays Devil's Backbone Tavern on April 7th.

James is a friend of mine from high school. I'm glad to see him finally see some success in music. He's been at it a while. We caught his Houston show and Wednesday and it was great.

We also saw Colter Wall at 713 Saturday night, and I have never been more disappointed in a venue. Their inability to get their sound figured out ruined the show. Someone there also has to have a head injury to think people would pay $200+ to see Tyler Childers there if that's the best they can do.
Did Vincent Neil Emerson open for Colter in Houston? Were you able to catch his set if he did?
I just discovered him on spotify a few months ago and really enjoying his stuff

I've been to 3-4 shows there and the sound has always been good, maybe they didn't have their regular guy there that night?

Lots of popping and sound cutting in and out. I didn't notice it for the opener, but there were very few songs where Colter Wall didn't have some sound issue.

Yeah, the sound was fine for Isbell as well. Might have been bad luck.

I actually liked the venue. Was a fan of the second/third story GA SRO spots with a rail you could put your drink on. Thought it was funny to see people directly in front of us paying 8x to have a chair & table.

And once again Houston gets the shaft. Three nights in Austin and zero in Houston? Gesh!

his last show didn't sell very well at all (even after they released $20 tickets), but that probably had more to do with it being 4th of July weekend.

Sucks because I wanted to go to that show but we already had a vacation planned and I was out of state.

Gotta remember Isbell was one of the few still touring somewhat heavily during COVID... Touring non-stop demand is going to start to wane.

I know I appreciate bands/artists more when they come to Houston nowadays when they could have just done the DFW-Austin-SA corridor and leave it at that. Not that this city is great for live music to begin with, but I'm mostly over driving west to see bands.

Look on the bright side, you'll always get ZZ Top and Kings X before the rest of us pilgrims do.

I'm not at this concert but I am watching from the couch Billy Strings night 2 sold out Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and Derek Trucks who is playing at the Ryman tonight, grabbed his guitar during his own set break and ran across the street literally from what I understand, then sat in with Billy for two songs. Played slide on a Widespread Panic song and then a Billy original.

Then Derek just went back to the Ryman and was late for second set and Tedeschi Trucks started without him. When Derek Trucks came out at Bridgestone Billy said "It's not often you see a sit-in during someone else's set break" and said it was the first time they've met.

I feel like it had to have been a bit but in reality from what I'm reading it wasn't. Insane. Everyone wants to play with Billy so bad that they'll run with their guitar from venue to venue.

This band is intriguing. They sound like singer/songwriter or some modern pop stuff at times, then imagine dragons, then it's prog metal /djent all of a sudden.
Lots of Vola vibes.
Masked and anonymous ala ghost.

Sleep token.

Wood Brothers/Avett Brothers/Turnpike Troubadours were fantastic as expected in Dallas last night.

It was an interesting mix of hipsters vs cowboys. The losers were the people who left after Avetts and the Turnpike people who showed up after Avetts.

The Avetts got a ton of the cowboys into their show and standing and enjoying and Turnpike had a good number of Avett fans around us enjoying their show. If you're going to spend that money on a ticket for a show that's essentially a split show... Watch both acts. You may just like it.

I had that happen at a Metric / ZOE show in Houston. ZOE went on first (I had never heard of them) and was a Mexican rock band. It was PACKED for the last third of ZOEs set and the first third of Metrics set, as both sets of fans were there, but the first part of ZOE and the last part of Metric was like 2/3 full as fans of the opposite band hadn't arrive or had left.

It was definitely an odd mix of folks. Heard guys in the bathroom saying "who in the hell are the Wood Brothers and Avett Brothers?"

People next to us left after the Avetts, which was weird because they didn't stand up during their set even though everyone around us was standing. They definitely couldn't see the stage, but didn't complain at all. I figured they were Turnpike fans and just waiting for them.....then they left.

Great show all around!

Loved the concert. It's always weird for the first act with the stadium 1/3 full, but the Wood Brothers sounded beautiful. The wife and I have been to 8 Avetts shows now, but we were excited for our first TT show as well. Great combo, and I was really happy to see all the country folk get into the Avetts.

The cherry on top was the shuttle ride back to the Zaza with the 6 seater Tahoe filled with 10 (inebriated) people sitting on laps and blasting Bone Thugs on the stereo.

Add it to the list of Houston gets the shaft tours.

This one stings as my 12 year old guitar playing son loves Weezer and has been asking to see them. Might have to make an Austin road trip.

On the upside Modest Mouse is stopping in Houston to play Bayou Center (my favorite venue) in between the Dallas and Austin shows so at a minimum I'll hit that.

Got in line for Muse since around 9:15 am, got number 13. The arena has plugs all over and just moved a trash can to get that standing desk lol. Best thing of WFH policy is definitely being able to work in line and not waste pto

Hah, yup. Taking my nephew to Muse in Fort Worth on Friday and I've already checked set times so we can stroll right in at 9pm and sit down.
