tl;dr, look at the list

As you can see, I get on a certain series and continue on with it until it is finished. All books read on Kindle apps. I hardly touch bound books any longer, just due to the ease of the e-books.

If you are into military history, I strongly recommend both The Mosquito Bowl and Walk In My Combat Boots. With the latter, be prepared to be strongly moved by some of the stories.

For sci-fi, The Expanse universe and the Expeditionary Force series are two series I strongly recommend, Also, the Silo trilogy by Hugh Howey, and just about anything by John Scalzi I had hoped to finish the Red Rising series before the end of the year, but just didn't devote enough time to it to finish the re-read of the first five books to get to book six, released in November. I'm also a big fan of the Murderbot Diaries series. Of course, the Asimov Foundation universe is classic and this is the first time I've read any of them, except for Foundation a few years ago.

Reading Exodus was timely, in that I finished it a few weeks before the Hamas attack on Israel, and it provided a good background of the politics associated with the foundation of Israel. Yes, it is a work of fiction, but based greatly on fact. If you have never read any of Leon Uris's work, either this or Battlecry are great books to start with.

Homefront: An Expeditionary Force Audio Drama Special Craig Alanson If you get into the Ex Force series, don't make the mistake of getting this audio book. It isn't necessary for the continuity of the story, but you may feel that way at some times. I thought it was a terrible dramatization and have already told a few folks not to get it when they started the series.
