Also, in the second post credit scene, several people were yelling for Wario and Waluigi. The pop they would have caused would've been MASSIVE.

I went to see it at 1 pm in CS so there were only like 7 people in the whole theater but I was wondering about Wario and would have been thrilled as well

Funny thing about everyone wishing it was 20 minutes longer is that I had to go the bathroom 30 minutes in but it's so quick paced that I felt like I would miss something big so I held it for a full hour. The film could have used another 20 minutes but my bladder would have exploded.

I'll have to go back when there's a good crowd and possibly find a toad along the way. The visuals in this movie are amazing.

ETA: Is everyone seeing this in 3D? Is it only out in 3D?? That's usually what I go for given the option but honestly have no idea and curious if others prefer non 3D for this.

I hope this makes a $billion and starts a universe.

Imagine the following films:

Zelda
Star Fox
Metroid
Mario Kart
Super Bros

Each of these has enough material for team up films and sequels.

They would print money. Nintendo is sitting on a goldmine.

I would've but for some reason my theater only has it in 2D IMAX or RealD 3D . Super annoying.

I watched it in IMAX but I may watch it again in 3D in a regular theater.

The biggest reactions in my theater were probably when we first see the Jungle Kingdom, and several moments with the Kongs.

Once this opens big, expect a Donkey Kong movie announcement.

I won't use it again if you stop telling the weird Natalie Portman story.

In light of this and the short run time I may need to head out one night and catch this movie. I was not really planning on it initially but I'm down to be entertained.

Yeah, same. Air is my priority this weekend, as I'm seeing that with friends on Saturday, but now I feel like I need to try and make time for this as well. Maybe Friday, if not early next week.

Saw the movie today. It was really good! I loved the music and all of the references to Mario and Nintendo games from the original Donkey Kong to the NES all the way to the Switch.

I wanted to see Yoshi in the film, but at least they included the Yoshi egg in the post-credits scene. There will definitely be a Super Mario Bros 2 movie after this one makes bank in gold coins.

Some of the best scenes were the Bowser/Jack Black piano solo and the Mario Kart 8-style kart selection.

Zelda is another near guaranteed billion. Metroid could be incredible if they do the Avatar route with photorealism and incredible environments.

Star Fox is a bit more difficult because name recognition isn't as high, but it's possible.

I think Donkey Kong is another one that has a lot of potential.

A Pokmon movie based around the actual universe with a focus on a coming of age storyline with a trainer could be amazing.

$31.7 million domestic debut on a Wednesday. That is some FIRE.

11th biggest Wednesday ever, and every single one that's ahead of it was either in the summer or at Christmas.

Will put this in the box office thread where it belongs, but damn, what a debut.

Top selling N64 games (because people in their 30s and 40s will be driving the box office with their kids)

Super Mario 64 - 12M copies
Mario Kart 64 - 10M copies
GoldenEye - 8M copies
Zelda: Ocarina - 8M copies
Super Smash - 6M copies
Pokmon Stadium - 5M copies
Donkey Kong - 5M copies
Diddy Kong Racing - 5M copies
Star Fox - 4M copies

Add Metroid, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Party, etc and boom that is a heck of a lineup.

Mario Kart is absolutely massive and bigger than it's ever been.

For comparison to MK64, MK8 has sold 60 million copies on Switch.

Smash Bros 30M, Odyssey 25M, and BOTW 29M.

Switch has been an insane success.

I've heard Charlie Day mention in several interviews, Danny DeVito for Wario.

Brilliant. No notes. Make it happen, Nintendo.

They need to work the whole IASIP cast into some scene of another movie.

DeVito as Wario, Rob as Falco or Captain Falcon, Kaitlin Olsen as Birdo, and Glenn Howerton as Waluigi.

I'm at the theater to watch Air and the last two IMAX showings of Mario are sold out tonight. This theater RARELY sells out, even for Marvel.

From page 1. This is the benchmark it had to clear to become the highest grossing video game adaptation of all time. Starting to look like it crosses that before it even starts its second weekend.

Great movie for millennial parents with young kids. We all loved it. Exactly what I was hoping it would be, transported us all into the world of the games we love and didn't force in anything unnecessary.

I'd love a similar movie made for old school Zelda. Wouldn't have nearly as broad of appeal as Mario Bros but would be awesome nonetheless.
