Awesome!

For years I remember I was the only one on my street still playing the NES. All my other friends had Super Nintendo and obviously we spent most time playing that as there was simply no comparison between the 2 consoles.

The thing with me though, is I don't remember asking for the N64 that much….HOWEVER….whenever we would go toys-r-us I vividly remember always going to the display and getting a few rounds in…there was always a timer as well and I still remember the sound of, "It's a me, Mario. Thank you for playing Nintendo 64. Who's next?" Signaling to let someone else have a turn and removing you from wherever you were in the game. If there was no one around me I got another turn in.

Clearly my parents noticed this because Christmas that year there it was! I remember being so shocked and excited and not believing my eyes at all.

I also remember my dad pulling a major prank on me….

There was always the 3-color hook up plug (red, white, yellow) for these things that never worked on our televisions and we had to use the other one….well….after opening everything and seeing that I go, "do we have the other cable?" My dad….."oh no! We didn't get that! We won't be able to plug it in today."

The look on my face was enough and they pulled it out from its hiding place immediately….but that was my dad.

Of course it's Chris Pratt.

I vaguely remember someone posting here about the casting but when the trailer started, I expected to hear the other common voices these days, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart as Mario and Luigi.

Next up: Vin Diesel as Link, Lady Gaga as Zelda, and Robin Williams deep-faked as Tingle.

Ok, I'm in! Looks like it will be a lot of fun, and I won't have to try to convince the kids on this one.

(1) That looks awesome.
(2) It will make all the money. Why? Because there's a three-page thread here that's all about Nintendo nostalgia from a bunch of people between the ages of 30 and 60 who have kids.
(3) I don't think I've ever liked an idea on this board as much as I like the idea of a Super Smash Bros. Universe riff on the Avenger movies.
(4) Wreck It Ralph (1 and 2) are underrated.
(5) I want to find a way to inadvertently meet and become lifelong friends with Chris Pratt. Maybe he and I can buy a middling English soccer team.

I'm going to need a Tanooki Mario cameo. I used him to wreck shop vs. my 10 year olds on Mario Kart 8.

I'm convinced they're gonna throw in some kart racing and maybe even some Smash Bros references. I noticed they did a bit of Luigi's Mansion at the end there, so I can see them putting in a ton of Nintendo references.

Also Donkey Kong is in it so there's that.

If the entire movie boils down to a race at Wario Stadium and Mario wins by pulling this move, I'm going to stand up and cheer. My kid will have no idea what's going on.

Animation looks amazing and they stayed very faithful to the source material. Only issue I see is that I hope Mario doesn't remain incompetent the whole film and become the Mario from the games, the fearless hero.

Peach looks to be the RPG and Smash Bros version where she's more of a leader and ruler and Luigi is pretty spot on.

This movie will make a billion easily, may be the biggest movie of 2023.

Apparently Nintendo bought an animation studio so we can expect a lot more from them if this one knocks it out of the park. Imagine major motion picture movies of the following:

The Legend of Zelda
Metroid
Kirby
Star Fox

All tied into Super Smash Brothers.

Every single one of the above has billion dollar potential if Nintendo stays true to the source material.

Metroid needs to be a realistic, CGI sci-fi horror movie in the style of Alien and that one episode of Love, Death, and Robots. And get a cool synth-y 80s score.

No it shouldn't be horror. Samus is a bounty hunter than can and does wade through enemies like they are nothing at times. It was never survivor horror. It was always pure action.

Metroid has always been unique because Samus is the last resort the military uses when the situation gets out of control. It's less survival horror and more you are the last hope to put this threat down.

I'm 100% down if they do justice to Zelda and Metroid.

Charlie Day as Luigi is hilarious to me. I will watch anything that guy is involved with. Direct line to my funny bone...

I didn't want to like this. I think Pratt isn't right and hearing him do a couple of the Mario lines with his voice is a little weird. But Dammit if I wasn't smiling and laughing through that whole trailer. That looks fantastic. My kid is going to lose her mind watching this. She LOVES playing the original Super Mario Bros game.
