Sauron throws out the word precious twice. He offered something precious to Durin. Then called the rings the most precious creations in Middle Earth to Celebrimbor

There was a quick balrog head in the fire when Durin denied Saurons offer

Trail by Abyss would be a cool band name

The glamour Sauron cast over Celebrimbor was so cool.

Episode 6 was good overall. One detractor I have with this one though is the Numenor stuff. Out of all the storylines, it was definitely weak this week. I couldn't get out of my head how back and forth the fray is. Ton of waffling between the queen and Pharazon. Kind of a minor nitpick. Overall it was a fine episode.

I agree there seems to be a lot of weird stuff going on there, but I'll take anything over the anguish of "don't leave the trail" for 15 minutes an episode with the harfoots last season

Same. Not that S2 of HotD was bad but in terms of pure entertainment value, S2 of RoP has been great. I think level of expectations plays a big part but still

I enjoyed season 1 for the most part. I get the issues with the story and certainly some of the choices, but I do think they're hamstrung on a few issues. The two biggest being that the Tolkien Estate won't let anyone have rights to the Silmarillion and then that trying to do a story over the timeline in the books where you'd have a whole new cast of human characters at least every season was a bridge too far for non-Tolkien nerds. If you can let go of those things I think they have done pretty well. And let's be honest, the chance that they were ever going to truly appease Tolkien nerds was slim to none.

I feel like RoP really improved its story telling from season 1 to 2, and HotD went the other way.

As a bit of timeline discussion/clarification, did Feanor craft the silmarils before Melkor went in hardcore overthrow mode? Just trying to figure out what all Sauron was actually around for. Not that it matters for the show.

Great episode!

I have a question regarding the making of the nine. So the nine were made with Saurons blood as opposed to Mithril. Does this insinuate that these rings had more of Saurons influence than the others? And that the species who wore these rings were doomed to get corrupted regardless of who they were?

Now that's what I'm Tolkien about.

That definitely was worth all the buildup. The use of actual orc prosthetics goes a long way. (This was maybe the biggest issue I had with The Hobbit trilogy.)

Can't help but feel terrible for Celebrimbor. Dude is having a rough go of it for sure.

Hated that Durin wasn't able to leave because of his father. As soon as that happened I knew he wasn't leaving, and this would end up becoming the reason Elrond has no faith in Dwarves to help anyone by the time of FOTR.

Really excited to see how exactly Sauron gets the rings back. I assume we're either getting a Sauron vs Galadriel showdown, or Sauron vs Adar.

Y'all think the season ends with Sauron arriving in Mordor with his army or orcs and starts working on the One Ring?

Did not miss the Numenor plotline whatsoever.

And what the hell was that metal song at the end?

Men were always more susceptible than elves or dwarves. But they were also more of a threat to Sauron. By creating the nine and giving them to great men Sauron is removing a threat as much as creating followers.

I don't believe that's quite lore accurate, as Durin's Bane is called that for killing Durin VI, but they've sure been building it up, and we know they're compressing the timeline.

So I forgot that even happened in those movies. I guess "young" Galadriel's demeanor in S1 is a little more acceptable. The funny thing is how Elrond seems completely surprised at her power, there, since he's a ring bearer by that point. Then again, I think she's a little higher in the elf hierarchy than he is.

Saramun whipping Nazgul ass is pretty dope though.

For tonight's episode, it was all pretty great. I do have a few nits to pick.

#1 - Arondir better not be dead
#2 - Where the hell did all of the elven army go by daylight? No way the orcs killed so many, especially once Gil-Galad showed up
#3 - there was something at which I laughed how ridiculous it was, but now I don't remember.

Still, glad Celebrimbor finally got some sense. Too bad Sauron is way stronger than him.

I have no idea how long they plan to run this show, but I was thinking during this episode that the 3 elven rings took 1 episode, the 7 for dwarves took 1, and the nine have taken almost a full season. Honestly, the show probably could end with the forging of the One and the Elves going "oh sh-t"

I imagine the want to give us at least a little taste of Sauron passing out the 9. Funny that we haven't seen anything else from the dwarves. Are we to assume the other 6 have been distributed?

You'd like to think the Balrog had a name not originating from killing one of the Durins. Smaug didn't suffer the indignity of being known only as Thror's Bane,

Gothmog probably taunted Durin's Bane mercilessly for being known only for vexing a dwarf and wielding a flaming whip.

We don't give enough credit to how great this show consistently looks.

Celebrimbor figured out the security camera loop like a heist movie.

"You are he ... are you not" was another cool line

A little weird that Elrond kisses Galadriel. She'll eventually become his mother in law

Reverse crossbow to tear down the wall was cool, I don't think I'd ever seen a siege weapon do that before.

I think I would have tried the chain in that slicer before my thumb, Celebrimbor.

Looks like there is some dissent building in the orcs against Adar.

Not smart Celebrimbor to give the rings to someone else who has already been under Sauron's control and therefore more susceptible to control again. I'm guessing we'll see some serious seduction between Halbrand and Galadriel in this last episode.

The kiss was obviously a distraction for him handing off the lock pick. I read her look as "wtf" after he was done.

It was a little odd that his removal of the pin was not subtle at all, but he went to great lengths to hide the handoff

Some good stuff in the episode, but I feel like a lot of it wasn't earned and kind of... meh overall.
Feel like this show would have been better off not having full on battles between armies depicted.

I appreciate the more serious tone of this season compared to the first, but the production values are still just not there. I always feel like I'm watching actors on a set, especially the battles. Other things are just head scratchers that wouldn't have existed in better hands.

I think it's good enough for me to keep watching, but if the amount of discussion here is any indication, I may be in the minority.

Finally watched episode and catching up.

That metal song was sick… I knew right away it was meshuggah, vocals are just very distinct.

Saw your comment, and googled it. Even better was it was the drummer from Dethklok of metalocolypse fame.
