I was glad for the Sauron fake-out, even if predictable, if only because of the way they did it with The Stranger would've been super anticlimactic.
Some cool nods to the trilogy, with Sauron saying the same words Galadriel would later repeat to Frodo when he tempts her with the ring, and The Stranger saying Gandalf's line of always following your nose.
Also that final shot of the three rings is identical to the one in the prologue of FOTR.
Overall this was pretty much just a wrap-up of the season, and I know there'll be complaints about it being slow and not much happening, but I thought it was cool seeing this Tolkien lore come to life.
Still have no clue what they're doing with Isildur, hopefully it's not something like he's been trapped under a pile of rubble all this time.
Also, anyone notice we have two pretty much identical scenes in HotD and RoP in back to back episodes? (A dying king confusing someone for their daughter and revealing secrets to them.)
I think it was a solid finale and setup for S2.

That is one of the lore inconsistencies. Traditionally he is thought to have been sent to middle earth around 1000 TA and had been in middle earth around 2000 years by the LOTR books.OnlyForNow said:

Nah he's gotta be a Blue Wizard. The Gandalf dialogue was just a nod, imo.

S5 in that scenario might be the formation of The Last Alliance, the siege of Barad-dur, and the defeat of Sauron via Isildur cutting off the Ring from Sauron's hand. They've said it's five seasons, right? If so, is there material that could come after S4 in this scenario?
I think Meteor Man is going to be Gandalf, but I ALSO think we get Blue Wizards. I'm going to need one of you guys that are far more versed than me to check me, wasn't one of the popular theories that one (or both) of the Blue Wizards went waaaay east, like, to Rhun? I'm kinda wondering if they didn't just decide to set that up, Gandalf needs help remembering who he is (I'm not going to comment on what I think of this, btw), and so he goes and trains with the Blue Wizards in Rhun. I think this is supported by the fact that the cultists know of the Istari. Traditionally the blues are said to have come first, so it makes sense.powerbelly said:
