Should be on HBO Max two weeks from tomorrow and I'm counting down the days.

The Riddler plot IS the corruption plot. His whole motive was to expose the corruption of the Renewal fund that was being picked apart by Maroni and Falcone, then to do his own renewal with the flood. All of his victims were related to the corruption within the Renewal fund.

Yeah I get it. You've effectively just parroted the choice the writers made with the story.

But… I still don't think tying the 2 together made either particularly more interesting. They totally could have been told completely separate of one another and not much would have been lost in my opinion.

What, in your opinion, was the Riddler story that would have been told separate from the Gotham corruption story?

Should've released it on 4/20. I was a little stoned watching the movie in theatres and peaked right around the time Batman went to the Iceberg lounge the first time. I was tripping balls not gonna lie.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Just saw it for the second time with family and focused more on the score. Damn, I'm loving this score.

On second viewing, nothing really changed about my opinion. I do think it should have been about 30 minutes shorter, but that first half of the movie has to be one of my favorite 1.5 hours of film.

I have to say, the Best Buy SteelBook is actually my favorite version. I just love the image/poster of the question mark encircling Batman's profile.

Interesting concept art from The Art of The Batman

I could see that being more in line with what Bruce looks like in the sequel.

That was really my only issue with the film, Bruce was a bit too angsty/emo for my taste. But I can see him developing into the more refined billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne as he gets a bit older.

I did like how Nolan approached that as almost a character that Bruce is playing just for appearances.

Thought it was releasing today on HBO max, but it's not until Monday? What is the logic behind that?

Probably getting another weekend in theaters?

I liked the difference here. The Batman's Bruce hasn't figured it out yet, whereas Batman Begins' Bruce seemingly automatically knows how to be the playboy. I liked that he has to learn it after not putting any effort into it previously, but can see why that turns some people off.

Starting in 2022, Warner Bros. is now under contract to honor a 45-day window from when their movies premiere in theaters to when they can release them on HBO Max. So, Monday the 18th is the earliest (day 45) they could release it to streaming. That, and yeah, I'm sure they don't mind one final weekend in theaters.

Fair, I'd just expect him to have some of that skill set having grown up in society circles. Super minor nitpick though, I can see Reeves making it work in context moving forward.

Also drops on iTunes (and I'm assuming other digital platforms) on the 18th, it's listed at $29.99 which is a bit steep so I'm curious to see if it's loaded up with extras.

Once this comes out on BluRay, I will be watching this intro many times over. It is easily on par with some of the greatest intros in movie history, imo.

I'm fine with him not having the billionaire playboy act down, but I think they took it too far in the other direction in this one. He was far too close to acting like a self-harming 14 year old girl.

Yeah, the extras definitely look to be pretty loaded...

- Deleted Scenes with Director's Commentary
- Documentary: Vengeance in the Making
- Featurette: Vengeance Meets Justice
- Featurette: The Batman: Genesis
- Featurette: Becoming Catwoman
- Featurette: Looking for Vengeance
- Featurette: Anatomy of the Car Chase
- Featurette: Anatomy of the Wingsuit
- Featurette: A Transformation: The Penguin
- Featurette: The Batmobile
- Featurette: Unpacking the Icons

Hell yeah.

I went ahead and bought the digital version as well.

In terms of extras, just FYI, it looks like HBO Max has two featurettes the digital version doesn't have (The Batman: LED Volume and The Batman: Bruce or Batman). That said, they're both super short, and the digital version has far more featurettes overall (and the full-length ones at that, as one or two of HBO Max's are truncated), along with the 53-minute Vengeance in the Making documentary, which HBO Max doesn't have either. Though, I'm now realizing that the two featurettes HBO Max has that the digital version doesn't are almost assuredly pulled from the 53-minute doc. So, in other words, the digital version likely has everything, while HBO Max does not.

Oh, and the HBO Max version doesn't have the deleted scenes either, of which there are two; the Joker interrogation we've already scene (though they give more context as to where it appeared in the movie), along with a Catwoman deleted scene at 44 Below with Penguin (which is brief, but a really good character bit from Penguin that I can't figure out why Reeves cut, as he doesn't really explain why).

I had preordered on itunes and apparently it's not in 4K.

I did watch the opening monologue. Still badass.

Nevermind. Showing in 4K now!

Just did as well, though I had to figure out how to buy it since AppleTV on my iPad was directing me to HBOMax

Also has a Matt Reeves commentary track that I'm excited to listen to.

This is one I am definitely getting on UHD. Just rewatched the intro on my computer, and it's amazing how much more impactful the score is when you are completely surrounded by it, and the bass has a slight rumble to it.

Definitely glad I saw it twice in theatres.
