Is Howard the first major character in BB or BCS to die with zero direct connection to the drug trade? I'm talking major characters - Hank (and Gomez) not IN the drug trade but took on known risks in battling it. Kid on motorcycle, and a PLANE FULL OF PEOPLE, were not major characters. Andrea might be the closest.

What an insulting comparison. At least compare them to Silicon Valley (though still a complete reduction. Succession is top notch)

See: username

But I guess that was a self caused death versus murder - but still, a major character, completely outside the drug trade, and critical in understanding the path of Jimmy's character.

Maybe a dumb question but is there anywhere to stream season 6 so far? I completely missed the premiere and everything since. Or am I stuck waiting until it comes to Netflix?

I may be reaching here a bit, but Gilligan and company love to use foreshadowing and I've picked up on 3 things with Kim. First, she was the one handling the vacuum cleaner guys card and had some interest in it until Jimmy turned the page and kinda made her put the card back. Second, her mother's statement "I didn't think you had it in you." And 3rd, Jimmy made a similar statement about Kim not being strong enough to handle what they were about to do to Howard. I still think Kim has something to do with Lalo no longer being a threat and Mike, or maybe the vet, helps her disappear. There is no mention of Kim in BB and Saul thinks Lalo and Nacho are still alive in BB because he thinks Lalo or Nacho sent Walt and Jesse to kill him.

Also in BB, Gus seems to have free reign and really has no worries about his business, like he does in BCS. The only Salamanca he has to worry about is Hector, and he is in the nursing home. Even Tuco doesn't care about or even mention the Chicken Man. He even takes out Don Elido and eliminates all his competition. So something happens to Lalo that Jimmy doesn't know about and same with Kim. I'm guessing Jimmy assumes she is dead, but that Lalo and Nacho are still out there.

Again, we are all guessing. I thought Howard would be so embarrassed and disgraced that he would off himself. Didn't even consider that Lalo would just show up and end Howard without even a thought...just did it. Shocking, but completely in line with Lalo's character.

Lalo and Tuco are two very interesting characters. Tuco was just plain crazy unpredictable, while Lalo is more cold and calculating unpredictable. Both characters are very well written and played.

AMC. I signed up for the AMC+. I think you can still stream all of it there. No commercials.

EDIT: Yeah, just checked it. The first 4 episodes are available on AMCplus.com until 5/31

You can probably get it through Amazon Prime. That's how I watched Season 5 before it made it to Netflix

As an ardent viewer of BB I'm ashamed I have to confirm this but is Andrea Jesses girlfriend with the young son who almost died of ricin poisoning?

I'm sure this video will be taken down soon, but the final scene from last night. I noticed a small detail on a rewatch - when Howard says "I'm going to be OK", both Jimmy and Kim's shoulders drop as if in relief. Small detail, nice acting.

It's still hard to read Kim - face seems pleased when Howard says he embarrassed himself, a hint of concern when Howard says he's having marital problems, not really seeming to be hurt when called a sociopath.

So what's next? It's hard to believe the writers would kill off the Kim character, and I would guess that would irreparably harm Jimmy to the point of not being able to go through the motions in the Breaking Bad timeline. I feel Kim will choose to be gone, or be made to be "gone" in some other way.
Forgot that Jimmy didn't know Lalo was still alive. I didn't catch it on the first watch but when Lalo first appears in this scene, Jimmy's face looks like he's seen a ghost and I think he mumbles "How?" Just excellent acting all around. What an episode.

Yes, the most innocent main character. Andrea was not a criminal, but she made a poor choice by associating with Jesse.

I also thought from the moment she saw the card that she would eventually avail herself of the services the vacuum cleaner repair man offered. How exactly we get to that point i don't know and can't wait to find out.

Yes, nice writing, nice acting. I was wondering how Jimmy and Kim, as characters, could have played that differently and how Lalo was registering their reaction to seeing him. You might think the only way they might know Lalo was allegedly did was through Fring and Fring's crew, but the District Attorney also told Kim that Lalo was dead. So it's reasonable that they would be shocked to see him, but what if they acted happy to see him alive versus terrified? What if they acted like they never heard he was dead? These are dumb questions since it would ruin a key scene in the entire canon, but just thinking about it as if it was real life.

This was Jimmy and Kim's "breaking bad" moment. No more fun and games. They're responsible for the death of a completely innocent man. There's no going back to a normal life - no chance. Jimmy goes all in as Saul - defending anyone against anything as long as they can pay. Kim can't come to grips with what she's done and needs to find a way to escape. Maybe she contemplates suicide but settles on "disappearing" with vacuum clearer guy's help.

I think the last couple of episodes will be "Gene-centered." He's totally depressed and realizes the only time in his life he's been happy is when he was with Kim and tries to find her.

Better Call Saul midseason finale recap: Mediation, missing pieces, and monsters at the door

Quote:

Is this a happily-ever-after for our partners in crime? It sure seems like it, as we cut to Jimmy and Kim sitting contentedly on the couch, drinking wine, and watching Born Yesterday. It's an interesting choice of film, a story about a naive, uncultured woman who makes bad choices because she doesn't know better until education and experience teach her that attaching yourself to the wrong man can be dangerous.

I rewatched season 6 on Sunday through the AMC app. If you have a cable login from someone eelse, you don't need AMC plus. I was surprised to see that no commercials played when I watched them.

I know it's already been said, but the BB and BCS writers are head and shoulders above their peers. I can't even think of any show that comes close to the quality of writing.

It's a comedy but Marvelous Mrs Maisel is pretty great writing.

Leave the gun. Suicide. As drunk as he was it can be done.
Ballistics wouldn't make that possible. Lalo was too far away for a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Not only that but the silencer will mess up the ballistic stuff

So how does the Lalo standoff end? And what does he expect to get out of Kim and Saul? I don't get what he expects to get out of them this time that he couldn't get out last time. Seems like a strange move on his part.
My guess is buried under the lab is too obvious, and this show is never that, so...no idea.

I'm not going to mince on the timeline because obviously they were pushing it. Camera guy saying he needs just the right amount of time, Saul negotiating with the stand in.

Beautiful how they set up the Lalo nest at the beginning. So now Lalo has the tape for Don Eladio for "proof", I guess that gets buried with him later on. And he's stuck with Hector knowing he's avenging the Salamancas, but no way to communicate it.
Proof of what? That Gus has a bunch of muscle at the laundry?
That Gus is doing his own thing without the consent of the cartel. As far as we know up to this point, he's only ever moved drugs for the cartel rather than manufacturing in ABQ.

In the early flashback with Max back in BB, Don Eladio turned down his offer of entering the meth trade.

I think this also fulfills everyone's prediction that Kim turning the car around was the beginning of her end. If I had to predict now, I dont think Kim dies. But I think Howard's death is THE turning point for her, just like Todd shooting the kid after the train heist was the turning point for Jesse. Kim is BCS's Jesse.

She will feel immense guilt over this because she set the chain of events that led to Howard's murder. Then she will feel even more dirty when she and Jimmy have to cover it up. I'm not sure how her story will end but I think the Kim we always knew is done. She will leave Jimmy (and possibly Albuquerque) at the end to get away from this life of crime she became part of.

I can't remember the exact Mike quote but when he realized Kim was involved with Jimmy he was like "once she's in, she's in."
Interesting because I see Jimmy as the Jesse and Kim as the Walt.

My guess is that Kim attempts to skip town via the vacuum guy and that gets set into motion but before she gets out she's killed somehow.

Just seems too easy and too blatant for her to just skip town. I'm guessing they lead down that path but before it happens something goes wrong and she doesn't make it.

I think it could even be a situation where Jimmy thinks she got away when I reality she doesn't. Maybe he even finds that out in the Gene timeline.

Point being I don't think Kim just calls the vacuum guy and that's it she's gone. Gotta be more to it than that.
