there was also the comment about "some cross in the middle of nowhere we never go visit"

Elsa's place of death will be the Yellowstone ranch.

There have been enough scenes of the grave plot at the ranch in Yellowstone, someone go back and see if one of the headstones shown was Elsa's.

I only screen forwarded thru 1st episode of Yellowstone. At Lee's service 2 tombstones for Ned Dutton and Chance Dutton. Only date for Chance I could see was March 16, 1863.

There's a reason it's called Yellowstone ranch. Just like it's Elsa name is Lightning with the yellow hair.

Well, that doesn't add up. Doubt they reinterred folks from Tennessee.

That's actually a really good point. Didn't even consider that.

WUT?

Clarify this please. Surely you're not implying that the Yellowstone moniker is derived from Elsa?

In case you didnt know, the National Park was designated in 1872 and was named after the Yellowstone river, which was how the French interpreted the Sioux word for the river.

I know all that I was being silky when I posted that. That's one of the things I saw someone say in a Reddit 1883 chat. That chat was full blown over the top trying to figure out if she lives or dies

Taylor Sheridan is no Vince Gilligan who can bring back some small detail in a big way years later.

I love this show, and I'm not complaining, but we've now had two episodes where Elsa's fast as **** horse has been caught from behind by bad guys. Maybe her husband's horse was just slow?

Yeah, and this time the "horse was tired from a long fast trip" excuse doesn't hold water.

I also wish they made them look like they were at full sprint and not just galloping at 1/4 pace with riders sitting straight up at 90 degrees. Use doubles if you have to. That was easily the slowest horse chase I have ever seen.

I rewatched episode 1 last night and the sequence where James Dutton is being chased by bandits while driving the wagon is much the same.

In some scenes, the horses are clearly going full speed. But in others, they are just trotting behind the wagon.

Not something I would necessarily pick up on the first time around, but with a second look it's obvious.

This bugged me, too. I've never seen a horse chase seen at brisk trot.

I just watched a 1967 film called "The Way West" and it was about a wagon train to Oregon. Sally Field made her film debut (she was an extra in an earlier film but this was a talking role) as a slightly ****ty teenage girl who causes a bit of trouble and distraction to the main story line. The wagon train boss even had a black sidekick of sorts. I guess there's nothing truly new in movie making.

looks like it is on Amazon Prime. I am gonna have to watch that!

So Margaret will be 56 when Spencer is born????

Change of life baby

Those birth years can't be right for James and Margaret. When talking to Elsa about possibly having a baby, they said Margaret was 17 when she was pregnant with Elsa.

So if Elsa was born in 1865 per that chart (and the time line for their 1883), then Margaret would have been born in 1848(ish).

Yikes, you are correct. Margaret's looking every bit of those 35 years, and then some. She's got a rode-hard-and-put-up-wet look going on. But then again, people aged faster back then... no sunscreen.

The scene with Dad talking to mom about Elsa and his feelings for her really got to me. You men who have daughters know what I mean. I have sons too and love them to death but even they know daughters are special.

This. Tim McGraw hasn't been perfect in this show but he crushed this scene. Hard to watch.

I thought it was interesting that mom was so worried that she might get pregnant with the cowboy......but it was never mentioned with the Indian?

Daddy daughter component of that scene in episode 9 definitely got to me. Hope she lives

Think Mcgraw and Hill have actually been pretty good.

Biggest complaint (aside from Sheridan having to have a cameo) is the previously mentioned chase scenes. As someone who wasted some years doing horse stuff after college, it would not be that hard for them to ride all out for those scenes. Maybe most people don't notice? But it bugs me too.

Otherwise, it makes me wonder how people got out west and how far we fallen and gotten soft in modern times.

Think I like this show better than how the original has gone.
