They were supposed to go to Oregon. I was wondering what happened to cause them to stop in Montana and build their lives there. Now we know. Elsa…

Josef and his wife were in the three wagons that split off. Were they all burned? They were both injured and inside the wagons.

I just watched a 1967 film called "The Way West" and it was about a wagon train to Oregon. Sally Field made her film debut (she was an extra in an earlier film but this was a talking role) as a slightly ****ty teenage girl who causes a bit of trouble and distraction to the main story line. The wagon train boss even had a black sidekick of sorts. I guess there's nothing truly new in movie making.

Welp, one thing's for sure: Elsa got her snot-nosed cry from Mama.

I'm 50/50 on whether Elsa lives or dies. She's been shown to be a fighter.

Maybe the Lakota chief will come back to work some Indian magic medicine on her. Then afterwards, she hops in bed with him LOL.
You joke, but I actually get the strange feeling injuns help her in some way with alternative medicine.

To those bagging on the show, I cut them a little slack. Up until these last two episodes, the show was pretty amazing to me. The last two have just felt like a big sloppy step down for some reason, and Elsa has become pretty insufferable. I liked when she was a confident adventurous tomboy, but now she's like some cocky hippie who thinks she's way more enlightened than everyone else. The Indian dress she wears looks like something she got from some trendy boutique in Austin. I am still convinced she lives because Beth Dutton is similarly insufferable.

Or the shaman's prayers. I'm getting the feeling that Elsa is going to pull through.

What do you mean "they stopped in Montana". I don't quite understand. Seems like me saying I'm going from Houston to San Antonio and gonna swing by the Dixie Chicken. Obviously the end up in Montana but it's a hell of a detour off the trail. I'd figure she would croak on the trail and theyd be at best in Wyoming and that would be it. They split somewhere in the coming season and I don't know exactly what drives that.

Same. In real life, pretty sure she's dead meat, but I have a feeling she pulls through somehow.

There were many Medicinal Plants in 1880's that were used by Native Americans and also traditional medicine that were used to help fight infections. They could be used taken orally, made into Salve's for outside uses or combination of both. Plus many more Medicinal Plants that also used for pain, fever, circulation and so forth.

I think her bigger issue is internal bleeding if her liver got hit. I don't think they can fix that with a plant.

Did that shot look high enough to hit the liver? Looked more like a gut shot to me.

Sometimes people get lucky and it doesn't hit their vital organs? Seems impossible you wouldn't have an issue with intestines when shot with an arrow, but what do I know.

In the end, it's just a tv show.

Remember when Beth said early on in Yellowstone that Dutton women die young?

Elsa's not getting healed/fixed by Native medicine.

Both her dad and the cowboy commented about her liver, mainly because the blood was very dark.

Let's assume the liver is fine. The infection she's going to get from that nasty-ass arrow is not likely survivable without modern antibiotics.. in the real world. On tv? Who knows?

All the marijuana advocates will swear it will. Seems to cure everything else!

They said it hit her liver. They said the arrow was dirty AF. They said she would get an infection and die. And now she has a fever/infection. She gonna die.

there was also the comment about "some cross in the middle of nowhere we never go visit"

Elsa's place of death will be the Yellowstone ranch.

People lived from gunshot or arrow wounds all the time, and others died from them as well. IF that arrow went through her liver....she's done. I can see her burial spot as the location of the Yellowstone Ranch since her parents said they would NOT move from her resting spot. I think she's gone at the end of season 1 (unfortunately.....because I feel that she makes the show worth watching!) I posted a link or a picture several pages back that Sheridan was quoted in True West magazine that 1883 was going to be just one season....and I could easily see her dying if that was the case. However, with its popularity and being picked up for a second season, I wonder if he regrets killing her off at the end of season 1. Her story is very important to the series!!

The next show is 50 years in to the future. the story line- I assume- will be John (little boy now) running the ranch his dad started and raising Kevin Costners dad and dealing with stuff in that time. She was a good part of this story and the history but she wasn't running the ranch or anything like that.

50 years in the future is likely 2 generations instead of 1. 1883 John likely has grown children and grandchildren by that time. I'm thinking he is Kevin/John's great grandfather.

You think so? I'm guessing he's 5 now, so that would make him 55 in the next one. Kevin Costner is probably late 60's so he's born in early 1950's. I would figure his dad as a teenager maybe early 20's in the next show.

I think he's referring to the new episodes of 1883 that have been ordered. That's a different animal than 1932.

I guess you missed the part when Dutton decided to head out on his own saying he was turning north. Everyone decided to follow him.

They were in Wyoming. It was maybe early September cuz later in the episodes they mention September.

From Laramie if you head north.... next up is Montana.

Earlier in the episode they also were deciding between Denver (west) and Laramie (NW) and went toward Laramie. Presumably they then turned north before Laramie because they decided not to go to the fort. They could till go north/northwestish.

Oregon dream died a while back imho. They were not making it before winter so.

Yes I was referring to Season 2 of 1883...in which I assume Elsa won't be present and they will build the ranch.

Just realized a small parallel.

In the opening scene of Yellowstone, John whispers to the horse:
"You deserve better. Best I can offer you is peace"

In this episode, the last thing Colton says to the scalped woman:
"You deserve peace. And this ain't it."
