It's painless if you are on the Essentials (with commercials) plan. I was on the no-commercial sub and it was still easy but had to let my sub lapse and then apply. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
No ties to T-Mobile; I was forced to change a few years ago because work pays for my phone (and tmob offered corp $15 a line for 2000 users vs $100+ we were paying for ATT or Verizon!). Originally wasn't not thrilled with service off the beaten path but been very reliable in big cites and major highways and gotten much better the in the last 2 years.
We get free MLB.tv and free Netflix from them already as well...
