What makes you think that wasn't the Trinity? The Trinity is definitely known for having a more wooded riverbed with steep banks but that depiction wasn't far from it. Prairie grass with oak/scrub trees and dirty slow moving water. That should be good enough.

Those leaves looked pretty close to poison oak, actually, which has larger rounded leaves.

Actually in Dances with Wolves it was a mule deer under the water....looked pretty realistic to me. (As well as the whitetail in the Trinity!). Great show.... but it does have a few flaws that could have easily been fixed....I mean nothing like two rotting skeletons (and the last Indian massacre in Texas was 9 years before 1883) that looked awesome except for a couple of the arrows still had bright colors on the fletching.....I mean it's not as bad as the opening of The Searchers which says Texas 1868 and is set in the sand of Monument Valley....(and I love the Searchers)....most people won't notice...but it's a great show and will continue to watch! It's actually fun to pick at a few flaws...I've never been a fan of McGraw's acting, but both him and Faith have done a great job! (Wish Tom Selleck had some part in it too!)

I was thinking the same thing regarding Selleck. Would not surprise me to see him pop up in a cameo al a Hanks and Thornton.

99% of the people watching this don't know that the river is NOT the Trinity, shoes don't spark, poison ivy does NOT look like Burr Oak leaves plucked from a tree, and that Rattlesnakes are not always deadly. Nevermind the fact that a lot of the group would've contracted the pox from that one fella. This show is not about accuracy any more than Yellowstone which is disappointing but expected. Gonna have to take it for what it is…a drama.

Thought it was great, tragic and grotesque at the same time. Can't stop watching. End of episode 2, what the strict Christian aunt did, and the "No it was courage" remark was impactful and wrenching. Damn punches aren't pulled

Only minor head scratcher was the 5 bandits shooting like stormtroopers at the beginning of episode one, while our hero is a deadeye marksman.

Are the Yellowstone seasons similar in quality to 1883?
