Geeze people. I'd hate to see what you'd say if this was the first time you saw Dances With Wolves. "No way a dead Elk looks like that underwater! It would never make that big a smoke plume, pfft. This show is ******ed".

What makes you think that wasn't the Trinity? The Trinity is definitely known for having a more wooded riverbed with steep banks but that depiction wasn't far from it. Prairie grass with oak/scrub trees and dirty slow moving water. That should be good enough.

There's no way he's going to actually hold poison oak or ivy, you dumbasses. Those people on set could merely breathe around it and get infected. "But it's not real!"

Those leaves looked pretty close to poison oak, actually, which has larger rounded leaves.

Where are the complaints that these German immigrants weren't also wearing Kaiser helmets and spoke with too much of a Prussian dialect? For gods sake.

Actually in Dances with Wolves it was a mule deer under the water....looked pretty realistic to me. (As well as the whitetail in the Trinity!). Great show.... but it does have a few flaws that could have easily been fixed....I mean nothing like two rotting skeletons (and the last Indian massacre in Texas was 9 years before 1883) that looked awesome except for a couple of the arrows still had bright colors on the fletching.....I mean it's not as bad as the opening of The Searchers which says Texas 1868 and is set in the sand of Monument Valley....(and I love the Searchers)....most people won't notice...but it's a great show and will continue to watch! It's actually fun to pick at a few flaws...I've never been a fan of McGraw's acting, but both him and Faith have done a great job! (Wish Tom Selleck had some part in it too!)

my wife and i are enjoying it, but a few stupid things did jump out, and were just unnecessary.

i was actually going to make fun of them for hitting the trinity trying to get from ft worth to oregon, but then saw that the basin actually does go that far northwest, or nearly anyway.

kicking up sparks in a pasture though, lol. ffs.

I was thinking the same thing regarding Selleck. Would not surprise me to see him pop up in a cameo al a Hanks and Thornton.

I think the worse part so far was McGraw's Civil War boots at Antietam......way too big for him and he actually stumbles because of them...(Hanks has the exact same pair)...no way anyone could have walked, much less fought in those! Plus: since when do horses hooves/shoes spark so much on the open prairie....they'd a caught the whole dang prairie on fire! It's been good though!

99% of the people watching this don't know that the river is NOT the Trinity, shoes don't spark, poison ivy does NOT look like Burr Oak leaves plucked from a tree, and that Rattlesnakes are not always deadly. Nevermind the fact that a lot of the group would've contracted the pox from that one fella. This show is not about accuracy any more than Yellowstone which is disappointing but expected. Gonna have to take it for what it is…a drama.

Almost humble brag, but had a chance to be an extra in the Civil War scenes but got bamboozled at work at the last minute and had to cover for someone. Know plenty of the reenactors, one of whom is an AG '94. All said it was a neat experience and got to engage with Sam Elliot at least, he seemed to be the most popular in the pics of I've seen. All were surprised to meet Tom Hanks.

Online etymology dictionary says it's been around for centuries but tough to trace due to its taboo nature.

Listen to George Carlin's history of the word.

German, which means "to strike"

Most versatile word in the language. Can be used as every word in a sentence. **** the ****ing ****ers.

Only thing I really questioned was why are all these Germans going to oregon instead of a few hundred miles south to the Hill Country? I've never seen McGraw or Hill in anything else and think they're doing fine acting. I believe he's a tough dude on camera.

Also a great Van Halen album.
Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

Tim did a pretty good job in the movie Friday Night Lights as Billingsley's Dad

Did they ever explain why James Dutton is meeting his family in Fort Worth?

He tells Sam Elliott he is headed north until he finds land worth traveling for, or something to that effect.

But Elsa makes it clear they are from Tennessee and only came to Texas to meet their dad.

Just seems like a detour.

He was also good in "The Kingdom". Small part, but powerful.

He was okay in Four Christmases though.

Thought it was great, tragic and grotesque at the same time. Can't stop watching. End of episode 2, what the strict Christian aunt did, and the "No it was courage" remark was impactful and wrenching. Damn punches aren't pulled

Only minor head scratcher was the 5 bandits shooting like stormtroopers at the beginning of episode one, while our hero is a deadeye marksman.

Are the Yellowstone seasons similar in quality to 1883?

After watching 2 episodes of 1883 I decided to give Yellowstone ago. It's good, but 1883 is much better, IMO.

Not really, Yellowstone is the Sopranos and Days of Our lives set in Montana.

1883 is way better
