Will we see Roy Kent as a member of the coaching staff next season?
I'm thinking Roy coaching Jamie would make for some fun story lines.

So from a soccer perspective, next season is going to be interesting...AgGrad99 said:Hoping so.Jason_Ag98 said:

I think Jamie is set up to rejoin the team whenever they earn their promotion back up, potentially.AgGrad99 said:
Yeah, I thought about that too.
But I think they might stretch reality a bit. I could see a storyline were Jamie takes less money, and becomes a hero, to help them move up...or something silly like that. Or maybe he suffers an inury, and Man City loans him out after his rehab. I dunno...but I bet the reunite the crew somehow.

I hope they take the FA Cup as the central soccer storyline next season. Would be fun to have to have someone explain to Ted which games (fixtures) go with what tournament
Yes, but more often than not it's from one league to another.Azariah said:
Can someone explain the loaning of players to me? Is that really like one NFL team loaning a player to another?

You see it most often when big clubs sign a promising young player who's a future star but might not yet be good enough to get a ton of playing time, they'll loan them out to another team to get them experience.
You'll also occasionally see it like we did on the show, where Jamie was with one of the big clubs (Man City) and got loaned out to a lower team (Richmond).

Really enjoyed the season. Very funny. It also has a good heart without being sappy which is tough to do. I usually repeated the episode immediately and caught more jokes that I missed the first viewing.
I hope they take a smarter approach towards the soccer. I realize that the characters are the main feature, but the soccer should ring true.
It would have been simpler to make the owner sell all of the talent before Lasso got there. She could have pretended to have financial troubles when she really wanted to tank. Same story with Jamie. She sells the only great player to make some money. The only expensive guy she has is Roy Kent who is washed up.
It also seemed compressed. They lose first few games and Lasso is an idiot. Then they win one. The next game we really see is them trying to avoid relegation in final game. Very simple for reporter to ask "you've lost 4 outta last 5, are you going to change lineup?" Or a conversation between coaches. They play 38 league games, plus other tournaments. I don't want a complete rundown, just a better depiction of a season.

I don't need to see actual soccer games. They showed about the right amount of actual game footage. A little more would be fine too. That's not my point.
We knew the result from first 3 or 4 matches and the final one or two. The writers just took a lazy shortcut and ignored the middle five months of the season.

I love how this thread is slowly gaining steam as people are finding this show. I've yet to hear anyone who has watched it not heap lavish praise on. It appears to be universal acclaim.
One of the things I like about it....it's a feel-good show. It's redeeming.eb93 said:I had someone tell me it was overrated. That was after she binge-watched the entire season in one night.t - cam said:

I stayed up on the show every week. That gave me a lot of time to rewatch as we waited for the next episode. I've definitely already seen every episode at least 3 times.Texas Ag 15 said:
Completely agree on the tone of the show. My wife and I binged watched all the episodes in one day because the tone wanted us to keep going. When it's a darker tone, wife can usually only handle a couple episodes back to back before she wants to throw on the office or something lighter... Recommended the show to my brother, and they powered through five episodes last night alone. Definitely think there's going to be a re-watch in our future

I hadn't seen the original Ted Lasso spots for NBC Sports since they originally came out a few years ago so I looked them up. There's a few jokes that were recycled for the show but I thought it was interesting to see the changes they made to the character. I'm glad they did - while the original works for a few minutes in a short promo, I can't see it working as the focus of a whole show.
