Holy sh*t that was incredible.

Past two episodes might be the best two of the series so far.

I agree. Good episodes.

Although I am not sure any of them can top Jail or Hypospadias as my personal favorite.

Very good episode. But below Hyposadias, Jail, the observer.

Good episode, and wow have I been waiting for this one the whole season. He's been taking so many (self inflicted) hits it was good to finally see an episode end on a high.

It was also a hallmark of TV history...has anyone else been able to tastefully show the south side of their nutsack on network TV without being censored? The rest of the episode was so odd and confusing (and hairless) that I feel like this "lil" detail went unnoticed.

Just finished the season and I don't recall another show where I LOVED the first season so much and felt such a drop off in quality in the second. I found there to be several really good episodes and a few that were just plain bad.

Overall pretty disappointed as every single episode of season one was top notch imo. I'll still be in for a season three, though.

How have you already seen the season two finale? I thought it aired at 10/9 Central, which would be in a few minutes. Doesn't air here in California for another three hours, unfortunately.

for what it's worth i think this season has had one of the worst episodes of TV i've ever seen and one of the best episodes of tv i have ever seen.

wouldn't say the whole thing was that bad

I think season 2 was just as strong albeit different. I was moved to tears a couple of times in this show.

Loved it.

No I'm a complete idiot. I forgot all about the season finale when I posted and just saw it on my recording list. About to watch now. Hoping for a good ending to boost the season a bit for me as I've definitely enjoyed the latter half more than the first few episodes.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ha, cool. That's what I was hoping, but initially took that to mean the finale wasn't any good. Then I started thinking about the timing, and figured maybe you had just forgotten about it.

Such a great finale. I know some of you didn't like this season as much as the first, but I thought they did an incredible job with Dave's arc, deconstructing him and tearing him down in just right the ways, in order to get him to a better, more self-aware version of himself, especially here in these last three episodes. It admittedly didn't make for as funny of a show, but I found it way more poignant overall. That said, hopefully season three is the tour and we get a bit more fun and shenanigans.

I thought the finale was great as well. My only negative takeaway was that I didn't feel it ended in any sort of way to make me intrigued to see what happens in season 3 like the way most seasons of shows leave you.

And those Dave and GaTa scenes were tense as hell and extremely well done.

I'm like, wtf is he apologizing to Mike and Elz when GaTa is going off the rails.

I loved the second season, but I can see how parts of it weren't for everyone.

But, man, Dave knows how to stick a landing. That entire season finale was excellent.

now that i've given myself a day to digest that finale, which was awesome, i've come up with my conclusion that i like season 2 just as much as one (save the Benny Blanco, "Chuck" episode).

for him to produce that show and be introspective enough to fully acknowledge his faults, which i'm sure are a reflection of his real life persona, is a breath of fresh air considering the amount of narcissism in the music business, particularly in LA

the were a couple of scenes in last nights episode that made me want to wring his neck. the meeting with the record company, the scene after the rehearsal at the VMAs, him meeting his fans in the parking lot, and his interaction with Gata in particular. the whole time i was sitting there saying "this guy is such a freaking egomaniac that he's forgotten what music is all about.". he completely disregards his fans and his friends and is just a straight up a**hole. it was brilliant that they framed the last shot before the actual performance of him looking at the closet that Gata records in and after that incredible redemption arc of him at the VMAs and in Delaware, you realize he started to see the light.

and i'll be honest, when i saw Gata in tears in before the VMAs and not knowing where he was i was a little concerned that he was about to do something bad to himself.

A++ finale

Gata is a great character. Face value he seems simple, and has his own issues and struggles, but man that character has grown on me.

100% for a hype guy he has some acting chops too but I'm guessing that's exactly who he is.

What a ******* great show and finale. Not gonna lie, while I thought this season was artistically better I wasn't liking it as much as season 1. It was just so damn heavy and so damn draining. Which, at the exact same time that I'm thinking, I don't know if I can take more of these anxiety riddled lives they're showing, I was very clear to the fact that, yeah, that's the point: they're making me feel exactly what they want me to feel, which is that same fatigue that the characters they're portraying on screen are feeling. And damn them for so easily messing with my emotions (damn them in the best way).

This episode in particular was the perfect bookend to a series that's been about narcissism and anxiety - kicking off the episode with the Dave being GaTa (and using a different font) to calling out that GaTa makes generic music but exactly finishing the show with that generic song that was so damn fun and on the nose about being about friendship. To be so explicit and subtle at the same time is such a difficult needle to thread, but the managed it so well.

And finally, I had always thought in GaTas performance we were watching the weirdest, most successful and on point acting by a bad actor, until right when he and Dave had their fight plus when he took stage and it was clear that, no, it's just damn good acting.
