Even if we consider those two characters a "push", to say Ford can't hold Eastwood's jock is just hilarious.

I went to a Halloween party as the man with no name and most people had no idea who the character was.

This was 10 years ago with the ages of the people being from 25 to 35. So they would be 35 to 45 today.

I was at a work party recently where we played a movie trivia game. No one could answer that the man with no name came from the movie "The good, the bad, and the ugly".

A lot of time has passed since the spaghetti westerns. People under 50 just don't have much of a connection to it.

That's a shame. And user name checks out…

Interesting. I'm on the back half of that range and I always felt he was a pretty recognizable character amongst folks I've known. Guess ones that might be on the edge like that will be subjected to our collective anecdotal experiences since we don't have a wide survey to reference.

Most people would probably think you were making a Back to the Future 3 reference without knowing the origin.

Cool watch on the making of Temple of Doom. Had no idea that bridge was built for the movie. You couldn't pay me to walk across it.

That tweet confirmed two things. Showing Indiana Jones at Cannes never made any sense, and whoever Adam Klay is dumb. whoever that is

What makes him dumb? It was clearly a bad decision to premiere the movie Cannes.

Finally time to see this for myself and stop reading reviews.

Alright, that was fun. Happy to report it's an improvement over Crystal Skull.

It's not a perfect movie by any means. The movie hits a bit of a lull in the middle, Helena can be kind of irritating, and the movie might get juuust a bit too "wacky" at the end for some, but it worked for me. My only complaint about the ending was that it felt a bit abrupt, mostly due to one specific editing choice.

But, bottom line, it felt like an Indy movie through and through.

Have to say, what a fantastic John Williams score. This felt like prime, 80's Williams. I think this score was better than any of the Star Wars sequels personally. Or at least than TLJ and TROS.

I think Indy fans will enjoy it, even if it's not quite as good as Raiders or Last Crusade. But come on, what movie is?

Are they saying that I didn't see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on May 24, 1989?

I know I'm kinda a freak for being able to recall dates like this, but I just can't fathom where these people are getting their information. If that movie had come out on this day in 1989, it would have been facing off against a behemoth that opened just a week earlier - Tim Burton's Batman. The Last Crusade would have made money, in fact I think it actually made more than Batman worldwide, but Batman was a juggernaut in this country.

Who knows. Weird that they've gotten dates wrong twice already, but the actual information in the thread is great.

Had no idea the "She talks in her sleep" line was improv'd by Connery.

Saw it tonight. Better than I thought it would be - Ranks #3 of the five in my view.

It's a really competitive summer for movies. Id love to see spider verse, Indiana, Mission Impossible, Barbie, and Oppenheimer all in theater, but when they all release in, what, a month of each other? I'll probably only be able to catch 1-2 in theater.

If they'd been spaced out over a year, I'd likely have seen 4-5 in theater.

Btw, for anyone who is hesitant about seeing this because of the bad reviews, and hasn't read the spoiler thread yet, I would say maybe 90% of the reactions in that thread are positive, including my own.

It's a good movie.

Sure, it has its flaws (the CGI, a few minor story/character decisions here and there), but overall it's a great time and an entry that is absolutely worthy of the franchise. Some even have it ranked third overall. So if you're at all a fan of Indy you'll almost assuredly be a fan of this one as well, and I highly recommend giving it a shot over the holiday.

Saw it this afternoon - both the wife and I enjoyed it. Good movie, not great. Good story and action - classic Indiana Jones. Yeah the whole story is a stretch, but it's fun. Glad we went to see it.

Same. Raiders and Last Crusade are a category on their own but this one was a good nod to the fans.

Saw it today and enjoyed it. Would definitely call it #3.

Was just a fun mostly brainless ride, largely as it should be. When I walked out, my thought was "nothing remarkable or wow, but I enjoyed the ride I just went on".

The main CGI complaints I had were with the opening train scene. 40 year old Indy with 80 year old voice was weird, the CGI in that scene looked particularly rough (or just dark to hide stuff) at times, and that kind of train scene has been done in a ton of movies. So I was a bit concerned at first, but it ended up just fine. I also liked the ending with how they handled his decision (and more accurately, hers). I didn't mind Shaw's casting.

Saw that it's at 88% positive on Rotten Tomatoes as far as audience reviews go, which is probably that same percentage, so far, of positives I've seen in the spoiler thread. It's a really good, fun movie.

We saw it with another couple, and the other 3 basically had the same view I did. Fun, glad we saw it, but sure, plenty of flaws and not anything to write home about. But all 4 happy with how we spent the afternoon

The movie moves along pretty well. I did not notice the actual runtime until I saw what time it was after leaving the theater.

My buddy complained about the movie dragging, and I agree…
