I'm tryng to talk to other fans about how much fun the movie was and things I liked and plot points, but every time I open the Spoiler Thread I have to go through 3 pages of why JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy suck posts, so thought I'd start this one.

I've seen it twice now, and the second time made me love it even more than the first.

Favorite Moments in no particular order

Giving R2 some things to do and having him stand vigil over Leia in her dying moments. That's where the movies all started after all, a young princess trusting a plucky astromech to take on a mission of utmost importance.

C3PO's humor and soul. Love Anthony Daniels, so great in interviews, so understanding of what the franchise is. Loved when they fell through the quicksand and he told Poe "You didn't say my name, sir, but I am also all right!"

Chewbacca's breakdown - when he hears Leia is gone he loses it just the way a lot of us probably did hearing she was gone in 2016.

Ben Solo vs. the Knights of Ren: Him pulling the blue saber from behind his back is my favorite moment of the movie, and probably a top 3 moment of the sequel trilogy. Adam Driver's ability to shift from one character (Kylo) to another character (Ben) is just so good to watch.

Luke lifting his X-Wing: With Yoda's music and so effortless. Sort of felt he takes a look at the camera there, showing off a bit.

The Jedi Voices: Mace and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and Anakin back together and such fan appreciation including Kanan and Asokha. Wish you could have been there to see my daughter light up with like a Christmas tree when she heard Yoda talking, she brought her favorite Yoda toy to the movie.

The recreated Han-Ben dialogue from The Force Awakens; That's some powerful stuff. God bless Harrison Ford for mellowing out on his importance in Star Wars and how much it means to people. I suspect Carrie Fisher's dying made appearing in this film a no-brainer for him. I also like the fact that Ben is redeemed at the same location that Anakin was.

Daisy Ridley's acting: What a find she was to star in these films, and she's amazing in this one. The look on her face when she crosses the sabers and starts driving Palpatine back is amazing.

Poe/Finn: I'd take a Disney+ series on these two right now. I understand breaking them up in TLJ, but they are so good together.

Lando: The guy was 81 or so when they started filming this movie. JJ Abrams allowed him to appear strong and suave, bravo.

Leia: My daughter is 7. She doens't really know how movies are made. She knows the real Leia died a few years ago. The effect of Leia on screen was nothing short of magic to her eyes. Like most jaded adults I couldn't help trying to piece together how they had cut each scene but for my girl it was like doubting Santa Claus and suddenly he's walking through your front door.

More to come, hopefully more from you too. Try and keep negativity off my thread if you can.

This board is the most positive place on the internet right now for RoS

I enjoyed it. The evolution of ForceTime (tm) to actually transporting stuff led to amazing visual scenes. The whole scene in Kylos room and him on the planet was stunning

Ben had an excellent evolution and I thought the temptation of Rey was great. It was strange seeing him fight with clarity of mind and Rey fighting with the crazy eye that Kylo used to have.

The first hour, I was like "ugh, it's The Last Jedi all over again." Then it slowed down and ended strong.

The more time that has passed since my viewing the better my thoughts are on it.

Will try and see it again this week, which will make one viewing more than I saw TLJ.

I thought there was a lot of good and a lot of bad. The more time passes, the more it sort of balances out, but the more I want to watch it again. I'll probably catch it again next weekend in 3D

Once I realized that they had to spend the first 45 min fixing TLJ, I enjoyed it more and really liked it by the end of the movie. Looking forward to watching it again.

I liked the fast pace of it. Different feel for a Star War, but kept them from introducing too many headfakes or fluff that didn't advance the plot. It felt relatively disciplined. And they still managed to introduce some kid appeal, which has always been an important part of Star Wars.

The whole Force Time thing and passing things to one another made me think about them introducing new SciFi ideas like quantum entanglement and stuff that I'll never understand, but it was interesting to see how they did it.

I'll probably go see it again at some point to catch things that I missed.

I went in expecting to hate it but really liked it.
Particularly with what JJ had to work with out of 7 and 8, that was about the best I could have hoped for. Lots of amazing visuals, nostalgia, fast plot, and I liked the last 30 seconds. Was a nice way to close it out.

This movie just makes me smile so much which has meant the world to me. This fall has been very tough for me mentally and I didn't know how much I needed this movie

My son (10) and I really, really liked it. Was a lot of it fan service? Sure, as the 9th, and last "Skywalker" movie should be. Personally, I really loved the callbacks, like Luke finally being able to lift his Xwing out of the water.

Want to take the Rian Johnson approach to Star Wars, turning everything on its head and subverting fan's expectations? Go ahead, but do it in a spinoff series, NOT the main storyline. This last movie righted the ship and just reinforced how unreliable "critical reception" is these days.

I was honestly reluctant to see it. Having seen the first one when I was 7, it's been most of my life that this series has been a part of it...It was basically giving up the last piece of my childhood to see the last of the movies fade away. It reminded me of my age, all that has happened in that time, all that hasn't happened...then when I saw the mediocre reviews it only made it that much worse. Like it would all end on something I didn't even like and further erode those good memories. Especially since JJ had already ruined Star Trek for me and I have zero respect for 7. But thankfully it ended nostalgically and as it should have. Even if it sounds strange, there is a bit of a sense of closure.

I didn't find myself agreeing with any of the gripes I'd heard going in.

I didn't think the movie started off rough. I thought the action was great start to finish. Sand speeder chases, Rey flipping over a tie and cutting the wing off, Duel in Kylos quarters. All good.

And Adam Driver absolutely nailed Kylo Ren... terrific villain. I then cheered him as Ben Solo and was saddened at his death. Had he lived I would have signed the petition to get a Ben and Rey solo movie.

And I don't care if it's how the force works or not... nobody saw the Rey to Ben lightsaber teleport coming. It was possibly the most bad ass moment in the entire trilogy.

Far from perfect, but I had a blast watching it and I walked out of the theater extremely happy and content.

Couldn't have said it better. It brought back a flood of memories from seeing it a bunch of times in the theaters in 1977 because we didn't have VHS or anything else and didn't know when we would get to see it again. I stopped counting after the tenth time.
I was an 8 year old kid again watching this movie.

I sat up in my seat and said "No, no, no, no, no" when I thought Chewie was dead.
CHILLS when Luke raised his X-Wing....poked my son in the ribs with my elbow about 50 times in 2 seconds
Luke's helmet....poked him in the ribs again.

And then.... "Red 5"

I don't really care what the snobs and critics say...I absolutely LOVED all of the so called "fan service"

This just felt like what a Star Wars movie should feel like.

My first viewing I liked it ok and there was a lot to try and take in but my second viewing I really enjoyed and the fast pacing at the beginning of the movie didn't bother me.

One of my favorite scenes is where Rey exits her (Luke's) X-wing after winning the war and she sees Fin and Poe...to me her reaction was not Rey's reaction but one of Daisy Ridley knowing this whole journey is over. The look on her face and the breaking down into tears hugging those two was so raw and real....I guess that is what JJ Abrams saw from the start.

I loved the Han Solo appearance..got a little choked up seeing that. Han was always my favorite.

Adam Driver is a great actor, I need to start paying attention to other movies he is in. I thought he quietly commanded the screen every time he was on it.

I saw the first Star Wars in 1977... I was 4 years old and I had all the action figures and toys (need to hope some of those are still in my parents' attic) and I can't believe I was sitting in a theater at 46 years of age still watching these movies...just think about that. I came to find intrigue into the Harry Potter series late after all the books/movies came out but was able to catch up on those in about a year and a half as opposed to what, 10 years or so that those movies spanned.

Star Wars spanned 42 years. Just think what JJ Abrams and crew had to accomplish in one movie...amazing.

I went opening night for an 8pm showing and I got to the theater about 2:30 hours before just to watch people enter the lobby and get pictures with the 501st Legion costume / cosplay group.....heck just seeing people and little kids smile over the real life R2D2's was cool. A really good Ben Kenobi was there and he took photos with anyone and everyone.

There will never be another Star Wars ...may the force be with us!

Just a fantastic thread! So glad it's here.

Like many here I loved it. And loved it even more the 2nd time.

MuckRakers post is nearly 100% my feelings so no need to say it ..

I'll add that John Williams final Star Wars score is terrific. Not many new themes but LOVE the Reunion theme. Very epic & emotional.

Fantastic movie & fantastic series & SAGA.

I have a few close friends I share Star Wars with. We saw ROTS together in college at midnight viewing and I fell asleep. (Long work days) Since 2015 have seen each one opening weekend with my brother in law. The buildup to each was almost better than the movie.

No matter how bad they've been, it's been fun because it's Star Wars. TFA made me want so much more. R1 was just amazing and I thought they could do no wrong with the franchise. TLJ was going to be perfect, after all the reviews. I walked out hating it thinking, "maybe this was a bad idea." Then we hear all the negative about Solo coupled with it premiering in May and not the usual December. It's supposed to be a disaster but it renewed my hope. IT was FUN! Just what my Star Wars should be. I don't need perfect nor do I need politics from prequels or preachy crud from TLJ.

We waited a year and a half for new Star Wars when I found myself more pumped for Mando. What was I thinking? I waited til Saturday to go with my BIL again and it was great. We both nitpicked little things, but boy was it fun. That was my Star Wars. Not perfect, not an Academy winner, just good old fashioned fun. I can't wait to see it again, watch one more episode of Mando then wonder what I'm doing until the next show hits D+.

I liked the movie, and kind of wanted to start another thread for people to list the easter eggs that were buried in TROS. Instead, I will just drop it here...

What easter eggs are in the film? Off the top of my head, I can think of the following:

1) John Williams as the bartender
2) Appearance of Obi-Wan, Mace, Yoda, QuiGon, Kanan, Ahsoka as voice of the jedi
3) Wedge on the guns in the Falcon
4) Palpatine giving the same line about unnatural abilities as he did to Anakin in ROTS
5) Snoke in the cloning tank
6) Battle Droid in the room where Babu Frik wipes C3PO

What am I missing? I'm sure there is a lot.

Yeah, Snoke in the cloning tanks was a nice touch and gave us the answer we needed about his origin.

Question... Reys yellow saber. That was her staff, right? If so, was it always like that or do we think she built it after defeating Palps? My initial impression was she had it all along, being a Palpatine and all, and it was always her little secret.

Saw it today, seeing it again tomorrow. Thoroughly enjoyed my 2.5 hours and VERY satisfied with how most of the storylines and character arcs were resolved for the saga as a whole.

I posted on the spoiler thread but it was swallowed up by the usual suspects.

Favorite parts:
- C3P0 humor. I laughed out loud at his lines multiple times... "My first laser battle", "babu frik, yes, he's one of my oldest friends!", when they fall in the pit, just great all around. Maybe my favorite performance of the movie along with Adam Driver

- Rescuing Chewie (basically, him not being dead)

- Rey slicing the wing off Kylo's fighter

- The new droid's interactions with the team

- Kylo/Ben transition with Han and him throwing his lightsaber away.

- The final scene on Tatooine

She asked if Jedi were real and thought they were all a myth. No way she had a secret lightsaber the entire time. And it wouldn't have been yellow.

She clearly built it after (and cut off most of her staff, it was no longer a full staff)
