He retaliated against the GBs because they didn't bow to his authority. He could have opened a proper investigation, but because they (as is their right) required him to get a warrant, he felt slighted and took revenge.jokershady said:

I'd say all that was warranted given the fact the ghostbusters had nuclear proton packs that were illegal and a building that was essentially a nuclear bomb waiting to go off
Controversy time: Shooter McGavin was just trying to protect the integrity of a game he loves from a psychopath. Also just trying to invest in some real estate.
Along those lines, Eric Gordon from Billy Madison was just trying to save the company from being run by an idiot. Billy probably ran that company into the ground forcing many to lose their jobs.

John Majors is just trying to make money and class up Bull Mountain. He's got a bunch of boozed up and drugged out employees he inherits and gives them multiple chances to do things the right way. They continue trying to hump everything that moves including his daughters and a hot tub. He finally decides that anyone that can't get on board had to go and they screw up his entire investment.
