Brauny's Best: Highlighting top high school performances from Week 11
The final week of the regular season saw some top-flight performances from the Aggie commit class and across the state of Texas. Here is this season's last installment of Brauny's Best as we gear up for playoff time across the Lone Star State.
Texas A&M Commits
2025 Jasper TE Kiotti Armstrong
- 3 catches, 162 yards, 2 touchdowns
Jasper entered Friday night in a must-win scenario if they planned on extending their season into the playoffs. Kiotti Armstrong made sure of that. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder averaged 54 yards per catch and again showed why he’s one of the most intriguing prospects heading to College Station. The frame and body type certainly project at many positions, but this kid has natural ball and run-after-catch skills that aren’t often found on prospects of his stature. For that reason, I think he’s going to get a shot at sticking at tight end during the early phase of his time on campus. Once he gets some seasoning as a blocker, the sky is the limit.
State of Texas
2026 Little Cypress-Mauriceville ATH Braylon Lewis
- 209 passing yards, 2 touchdowns
- 169 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns
Very quietly, LC-M has put together a solid season down in southeast Texas, and Lewis is one of the main reasons for that. His versatility with the ball in his hands has been a problem for opposing defenses all year. He’s built more like a slot receiver or defensive back when trying to project him at the next level, but the raw skillset definitely shines on tape. Lewis’ big night propelled the Battlin’ Bears into the playoffs with an undefeated district title on their mantle.
My Coverage
2025 Nederland RB Hubert Thomas
- 25 carries , 220 yards, 3 touchdowns
I don’t often highlight a player on the losing team here, but I thought Thomas was the best player on the field Friday night against Montgomery. I’ve been hearing a lot of folks in southeast Texas talk about this kid and how underrated he has been all year. He’s nearing the 2,000-yard mark and has a season average of 9.4 yards per carry. After seeing him in person, I agree that someone will get a steal here. Thomas does everything well. He has decent shake and wiggle but runs with a real toughness, tenacity and contact balance that I believe are his greatest attributes.
