I do think the show feels less soap opera at least this season. Production quality seems better. I could see some sets being too clean but do think it is an improvement from season 1.

I'm a little concerned that Mat is going to have a lot gutted from what made his character interesting in the books to me. We will see though, and I like this new actor so far.

I'm worried about the story's pacing overall. It's definitely better than season 1 so far, but it seems like we aren't making much progress on almost any front even though we're over halfway through season 2. For the volume of material they are working with, they need longer seasons. That is even with cutting a ton and reworking things.

Maybe season 3 can take some significant steps forward with things like Rand being trained by someone, Nynaeve and Egwene also progressing in power, Mat actually taking on a military role, etc.

Rand has a few more "incidents" and acquaintances before going HAM. He is in doubt and disbelief about DR at this juncture.

I've enjoyed it but my problem is it has been so long since I read the books I'm having trouble keeping up with the characters/keeping them straight. I was incredibly confused for awhile because I kept thinking Suroth wasn't a dark friend in the books but realized I was confusing her with Tuon. I've had to read a lot of wiki lately.

This is the most intense episode yet. One "victory" for Team Light, Rand interaction with Logaine, and it's fleeting.

My wife didn't like episode 5 much but was totally pulled back in with this one.

Fantastic episode. They really nailed the suldam / damane relationship. Looking forward to the last two episodes.

Yeah haven't cared for Egwene actress much but I thought she was really good this episode. This show has really turned a corner this season. Story feels like it's flowing better and more straightforward.

As someone who read 4-5 books 15 years ago I barely remember it and season 1 felt like a mess to me and almost felt confused as to what the hell was going on.

It's definitely starting to gets it legs, barring some crazy mistake the rest of the season it deserves a season 3.

It was officially renewed for Season 3 back in July, so I would think there should be no worries there.

Season 2 is definitely better than Season 1, so far. I much prefer the new actor playing Mat and I can actually tell Egwene and Nyneve apart.

It has been a long time since I read the books. When the final three came out, I didn't re-read them. One thing the show seems to be setting up (and something I may have missed in the books)is that each of the modern Taverene (including the women) is analogous to one of the Foresaken. E.g. Egwene and Lanfear being able to go into the wolf dream.

still concerned about potentially major changes to Mat's story. It could still hit all the main points, and keep him as my favorite character...but losing faith.

I don't get that feeling about the current series and in the books Egwene is taught dreamworld walking by the Aiel Wise Ones

Yea, I think this season is noticeably better. Not great, but it doesnt have to be great to be enjoyable

It is good but with the increased pace it is about time to show how powerful the Dragon can be. When you don't know how many season you'll have it would be a shame to waste it.

This episode was meh. I am not a fan or Moraine and Suian being a couple and adds ZERO to the series.

Assuming we see something in the finale, but I also saw a recent interview saying things have gone up a notch with season 3 as well.

I probably saw the same video. Inside info is that producers feel that the season 3 improvement over season 2 will be the same as season 2 over season 1. So expect another big jump in quality next season. Hopefully it will be enough to get renewed. This is the only chance wheel of time fans will get to see the books adapted into TV.

Lots of changes, but a pretty good finale overall. Big step up from season 1

This season was a definite improvement over last season. I'm interested in seeing where they go with things. And there are enough plot differences that I really don't know where they are going with the show, so count me in for season 3.

As a book reader this was the worst episode of an otherwise strong season. I mean just make Egwene the dragon at this point.Otherwise she should not have been able to even stand near Ishamael. She also "saved" herself. Yikes. So many bad things. I'll take my book reading opinion and enjoy it for what it is, entertainment but just had to get that off my chest.
The Dog Lord

Not the best episode of the season but still way better than season 1. Good to see that a lot of people liked it though. My biggest gripe is that they still throw out the rules on power every now and then. Moiraine went ham on those ships and didn't even seem phased.

Just finished season two. It was from start to finish a complete upgrade from season one. Every aspect of it saw marked improvement - cohesion, good pacing, the acting, all of it.

I'm pleased to say that if this keeps up, season three will be one of the more anticipated seasons of anything I've been watching lately. And yeah, that was a direct shot across the Disney+ bow.

Edit: autocorrect

I mean I thought it was fun. Egwene isn't the one who actually defeated Ishamael so I don't see the big deal she just protected Rand.

Only complaints are moraine showing as much power as a forsaken taking out a fleet at distance and also how is rand able to actually kill a forsaken when they kind of talked about not being able to be killed just imprisoned. Wasn't explained in the show even though the book I'm sure does but I can't remember them.

Oh no doubt. I enjoyed it mostly but the last 10 minutes or so were such a huge deviation from the books that it bugged me a lot. I feel like they are ripping Rand off and show casing Egwene and I'm not sure if it is an actor thing or just way to much creative license

At the end of the The Great Hunt, Rand: outduels Turak to become a blademaster, completes his leadership arc by granting absolution to Ingtar, meets Hawkwing & Co. and defeats Ishamael in the sky to proclaim himself as Dragon Reborn. This is important stuff. Instead we get Egwene killing Renna and Moraine making a giant dragon illusion.

As far as the power stuff goes it has obviously been thrown out the window.

IIRC, the one thing every servant of the Dark One gets is immortality, as long as they keep fighting for him. He basically can Pluck them from the same afterlife all the heroes of the Horn go to. But while the forsaken can be returned at anytime, the HOH have to wait until they are naturally thrown back into another cycle. I'm thinking he has to come back at some point.

I really liked Mogedhien.

I wonder how much of that was scrapped during the re-write of season 2 due to Barney Harris leaving.

In season 2, there was a scene and a half of sword form, zero Ingtar and Rand screen time (including minimal references to Ingtar being a df at best).

I just don't think they prioritized those parts of the arc this season, it will be interesting to see if they piece those aspects in later.

As far as Rand goes, w/o the sword forms and cheesiness factor of a CGI sky duel could entail, I think they opted for a "safer" fulfilling of the prophecy, though I didn't exactly like the dragon either and it definitely had its own cheese elements.

Overall, it was a major upgrade over season 2 and while enjoyed the finale, I felt like it was definitely rough around the edges.
