I do think the show feels less soap opera at least this season. Production quality seems better. I could see some sets being too clean but do think it is an improvement from season 1.

I'm a little concerned that Mat is going to have a lot gutted from what made his character interesting in the books to me. We will see though, and I like this new actor so far.

I'm worried about the story's pacing overall. It's definitely better than season 1 so far, but it seems like we aren't making much progress on almost any front even though we're over halfway through season 2. For the volume of material they are working with, they need longer seasons. That is even with cutting a ton and reworking things.
Maybe season 3 can take some significant steps forward with things like Rand being trained by someone, Nynaeve and Egwene also progressing in power, Mat actually taking on a military role, etc.
It's definitely starting to gets it legs, barring some crazy mistake the rest of the season it deserves a season 3.Madmarttigan said:
Yeah haven't cared for Egwene actress much but I thought she was really good this episode. This show has really turned a corner this season. Story feels like it's flowing better and more straightforward.
As someone who read 4-5 books 15 years ago I barely remember it and season 1 felt like a mess to me and almost felt confused as to what the hell was going on.
Yea, I think this season is noticeably better. Not great, but it doesnt have to be great to be enjoyableThe Dog Lord said:
Another decent episode imo. Preview for the finale looks promising as well. Please god stick the landing this season!

This episode was meh. I am not a fan or Moraine and Suian being a couple and adds ZERO to the series.

It is good but with the increased pace it is about time to show how powerful the Dragon can be. When you don't know how many season you'll have it would be a shame to waste it.

Assuming we see something in the finale, but I also saw a recent interview saying things have gone up a notch with season 3 as well.

I mean I thought it was fun. Egwene isn't the one who actually defeated Ishamael so I don't see the big deal she just protected Rand.
Only complaints are moraine showing as much power as a forsaken taking out a fleet at distance and also how is rand able to actually kill a forsaken when they kind of talked about not being able to be killed just imprisoned. Wasn't explained in the show even though the book I'm sure does but I can't remember them.

Oh no doubt. I enjoyed it mostly but the last 10 minutes or so were such a huge deviation from the books that it bugged me a lot. I feel like they are ripping Rand off and show casing Egwene and I'm not sure if it is an actor thing or just way to much creative license
At the end of the The Great Hunt, Rand: outduels Turak to become a blademaster, completes his leadership arc by granting absolution to Ingtar, meets Hawkwing & Co. and defeats Ishamael in the sky to proclaim himself as Dragon Reborn. This is important stuff. Instead we get Egwene killing Renna and Moraine making a giant dragon illusion.
As far as the power stuff goes it has obviously been thrown out the window.
