You could honestly cut out most of Padan Fain and not lose a lot.

That's an interesting point.

Other than the cut that never heals, a few other encounters and the constantly hunting them. What else did he do that was a major plot point?
Yeah not much honestly- he kind of got lost in the weeds IMO.

Padan Fain is the one who puts the finger on the scale to convince Niall to send the whitecloaks to the two rivers, once there kills Perrins family, in book 2 he is the reason why the Horn of Valere ends up in Falme. He fades a bit in later seasons but give Rand the cut in book 7 that ends up counteracting his never healing wound from Falme

Right, I was saying Elayne and Aviendha were the close ones. Min was the only one with Rand for a huge chunk of time there.

Could they change it to where Min is Rand's only love interest, and Elayne and Aviendha are exclusive of that and have a love interest to each other? Would that kill any of the major plot?

I don't think that's the intent. Rafe judkins, the producer, stated he's interested in making those relationships pklyamorous.

Back to the logain role, it's been stated that not only will his character stay in the TV series, it will also be expanded. So he's not getting cut.

Padan Fain is one of the most sinister charcters in all of the books I have read. The name sounds like a pseudonym for Lucifer.

I hope the guy playing Mat's father can wield a quarter staff!

Regarding the last one, This might confirm a pretty significant change from book material. My guess is that they are trying to get us more invested in the Aybara family and maybe this will be the first impactful death of the series come winternight

Couple tidbits from the casting tapes.

1) Padan Fain is definitely in the show. Nice exchange between him and Mat

2) they are going to establish Mat as a gambler early in the series.

3) they are going to include the mat and Rand journey from white bridge to Caemlyn.

4) nynaeve is wearing a sword at Emond field and has a story about her predecessor's experience with the white tower. So her aes Sedai dislike runs deeper than the books

They were not officially released. They were leaked and Amazon is trying to suppress them, but they already went viral.

Side note- Warrior of the Altaii by Robert Jordan is now on bookshelves. Possibly his first book but not published until now.

Has anyone read it? Is it decent?

Saw a Reddit suggestion that they could be cutting Thom out and inserting Tam into the party that leaves Edmonds Field. Since they haven't announced a Thom actor, yet, this might be the case.

That seems like it would be a huge mistake.
Micah97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree, but it's strange that they haven't announced him, yet. But I think there is evidence that Padan Fain is in the show and he's not been announced either. They've been filming for about two months. Assuming Thom is in many of the scenes they have filmed if they're going to keep him.

Doesn't Tom interact with Matt the most in the book, and has a history with Morgase? But Tom playing the "Game of Houses" is what he is really in the book for. Tam shouldn't be able to do that and it would make no sense
Micah97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes and yes and yes. They would have to downplay the game of houses if they made the switch. I Really don't think they are going to cut him, just strange that for as large a role as Thom plays, more so than Tam, his actor selection has not been announced.

They probably aren't filming in chronological order, or are only doing scenes where he isn't involved. Seems to big a character to remove.

I think they could re-write for the television audience. Tam was a mystery during the time he was gone. He's really just a father figure, so most of what Thom knows could've been learned by Tam during his travels and having Rand's father be Mat's father figure would require less development. Even in the books, he was more bad-ass than he seemed at the beginning of book 1.

I'm not saying I like it - just that it could be explained in a logical way.

So there is Thom finally. He was Kjartan, the guy in last kingdom that killed Uhtred's adopted Viking father. His son was Sven the one eyed guy.
