Texas A&M adds former Houston Christian LB TJ Smith via transfer portal
The portal additions continue to roll in, and the Aggies have added another piece to the defensive puzzle as Houston Christian LB TJ Smith announced his transfer plans.
Originally from Los Angeles (CA), Smith was a three-star prospect out of Cathedral High School, where he recorded 211 tackles, 15 TFLs and eight sacks over three seasons.
In two seasons at Houston Christian, he has played in 22 games, tallying 47 tackles, two TFLs and a pass deflection. As a sophomore, he posted career highs of 39 tackles, two TFLs and a pass deflection in 12 games. He recorded a personal game high of seven tackles against both McNeese State and Incarnate Word.
He joins Ray Coney as linebackers in the Aggies’ transfer portal class and gives Mike Elko and Co. their 17th addition on the defensive side of the ball.
He also has ties to the Aggies’ 2027 recruiting class as his younger brother, defensive tackle Myels Smith, committed to the Aggies in December.
