Just watched episode one. Amazing, amazing swordplay/choreography. Really bad special effects.

I enjoyed it a lot, though.

Liking what they've done with it 3 episodes in. Didn't expect them to start with any of the Last Wish, but it's cool to see (the first episode is the story I liked the most, a subversion of Snow White). Also interesting to see Yennifer developing into what she eventually becomes. As I recall, we only really see her as the refined sorceress in the books and games.

I was a little underwhelmed at first but man by the end of the season the show really finds a foothold. Can't wait for S2

Agreed!

I think this series is comparable to The Last Kingdom, in that it's pretty awesome overall, but there are some scenes sprinkled throughout where the writing, acting or special effects are kind of weak.

Also, Yennifer looks hot as hell sometimes, and other times I'm just not sure if she's worth getting worked up about. It might be because while she's hot in an exotic way, she looks a little too much like the chick from Glee. (Had to google her - Lea Michele).

I probably shouldn't have binged the whole thing last night. Cliffhanger and I'm sure it won't be back until next December.

Really enjoyed the first episode although I only understood about a quarter of the dialogue for some reason.

Through about 4 episodes and hasn't been anymore really cool fighting and and I do wish they did a bit better that there are two (maybe 3 with yennifers initial training) different timelines in the show but I suppose they make it obvious eventually.

I feel like it is setting up the stage and been a little slower after the first episode but still can't wait to see where it is going. Much darker and gorier than I expected but I never played the games.

I'm only 33 but feel like I am a lol old who has to turn on CC in a lot of shows these days.

I think a lot of it is that they are using a lot of made up or foreign words that you aren't used to hearing. And they don't give a lot of exposition in explaining it.

I think there's some of that, but I do find that the sound mixing/volume consistency has been a problem imo in not only TV/cable but streaming stuff too. Though I'll also be the first to admit that I haven't always taken the best care of my ears when I should have worn some ear pro and that does play a part.

Also had similar problems with dialogue - especially in the first episode.

The story is Eastern European but a lot of the words seem Welsh or Dutch in origin to me. In particular Nilfgaardian names and titles

So I am pretty sure it is 3 timelines. At least in the books all of Geralt's stories are before the fall of cintra.

So, didn't realize it until I turned on subtitles, but they renamed Dandelion? Doesn't seem to have any character change or combine his character, so seems an odd choice to me.

Yeah I guess they worried we wouldn't take him seriously?

Really liking this but I'm having trouble keeping up with the names. Kings, queens, realms, it's all so got dam confusing. That's the problem with fantasy for me. The only way I was able to keep up with GOT is that they killed everyone off so I didn't have to remember them.

I never realized that either.

The weirdest thing is I listened to the first three books on tape, and the reader would pronounce his name Dan-dilleon in the first two, and then back to the normal dandelion in the third. It was off putting.
