I really hope Jungle Cruise is just a cool, updated version of The Mummy. Seems like it's gonna be a really fun movie with high rewatchability.

Ridley Scott with two movies this fall (The Last Duel being the other one), two months in a row...

Now if he could only fix the screwed up cluster that his Alien franchise became after Alien: Disaster (I mean Covenant and Prometheus)

When I watched the first few seconds of the Stillwater trailer, I immediately thought of Amanda Knox.

Apparently she has issue with the movie.

Ugh. Just when it started looking like the end was in sight...

No idea if accurate, take with a grain of salt. Really hoping studios don't pull the plug on their theatrical releases again.

Never heard of this guy, but just checked his feed and he's super hardcore conservative. Like, unabashedly-supports-the-My-Pillow-Guy hardcore, along with a few other nut jobs, which is saying something. Point being, from that context, it reads like pot stirring/Biden administration fear mongering. I don't mean that as political commentary - pundits on the left are obviously just as guilty of doing the same - but yeah, I'd take this with a massive grain of salt.

I guess we can wait a few weeks to see if he's right.

The first teaser for Don't Look Up - one of the apparent Oscar frontrunners this year, stacked with an insane cast, from writer/director Adam McKay - debuted last night during the Olympics. Though an official version still isn't online, one should be any day now (perhaps even in the form of a full trailer)...

simply not fair to use The Mission score in a movie trailer.

I never saw The Mission. Was wondering what that music was from, as it's about the only good thing in the trailer...

Oh, man. It's my favorite score to write to!

YouTube it. There's a whole concert of Moricone conducting it available there somewhere.

Will do. Though, "Gabriel's Oboe" sounds like one of those soft-core, art-house Skin-emax flicks from the '90s.

The Mission is actually a really good, beautifully made movie. You should check it out. And yeah, great songs. I'm sure you'll recognize more than one of them as you watch.

Just FYI, next week with Warner Bros.' The Suicide Squad, we could very well be getting trailers for any of these three WB movies...

- Reminiscence
- The Matrix Resurrections
- The Batman

... and potentially even trailers for...

- No Time to Die (MGM)
- Top Gun: Maverick (Paramount)
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (Walt Disney)

Though, my gut says Disney saves the No Way Home trailer for either Free Guy (Disney/20th Century Fox) on August 13 or Shang-Chi on September 3.

Either way, seeing as Warner Bros. already released trailers for Dune last week and King Richard this week, I'm betting they release new trailers for at least a couple of the first three titles above. Possibly Reminiscence and The Matrix Resurrections, and then they save the next trailer for The Batman with Dune on October 22nd? We shall see...

So... none of this came to fruition, obviously. In this weird, in-between, half-pandemic landscape, all bets are off, it seems. We're four-and-a-half months out from The Matrix Resurrections and still don't have a single trailer. As poorly as The Suicide Squad did at the box office this weekend, it's the biggest movie Warner Bros has until Dune in October, so you'd think it'd be a no-brainer that they'd finally reveal the trailer for their big Christmas movie with it. I guess not. WB does have Reminiscence on August 20th, and the tone for it is certainly more in line with the Matrix franchise, so who knows, maybe we'll get it then. But box-office-wise, I can't imagine it doing anywhere close to what The Suicide Squad did this weekend, even as bad as it did, so it seems like a missed opportunity regardless.

All that said, I think any of these trailers will almost certainly debut with nearly any of these movies over the next four weeks...

- No Time to Die (Universal) - Trailer 3
- The Matrix Resurrections (Warner Bros.) - Teaser Trailer
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (Sony) - Teaser Trailer
- Top Gun: Maverick (Paramount) - Trailer 3

8.13 - Free Guy (Disney / 20th Century Fox)
8.20 - Reminiscence (Warner Bros.)
8.27 - Candyman (Universal)
9.03 - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Disney)

Sony maybe saves the No Way Home teaser trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage on 9/24, but that seems way too late to then have a full trailer a month and a half or so after that...

Paramount, Universal, and now Warner Bros. have committed to the 45-day window going forward, ending the day-and-date HBO Max strategy for WB, starting in 2022. Seems like this is going to be the new standard for the foreseeable future, which feels right, and I can totally get behind

Meh. I'm sure glad I didn't pay to see WW84 in the Theater, or that other crap movie with Jared Leto and Denzel Washington. And I definitely would have gone to see WW84 in the theater if it wasn't showing on HBO immediately. So, I understand for decent movies like Suicide Squad, Dune, etc. But kinda wish they would keep releasing the so-so movies on HBO right away.

Maybe they can go by the critic's early reviews...if the majority like it then it's only released in theaters. If the majority pan it then "Here you go" we'll toss you a free bone on HBO Max.

At this point we need theaters to survive and thrive. They should get an exclusive window. We can wait 45 days for things like WW84 and that terrible Denzel movie.
