I still have the Darth Vader Tie Fighter sitting on a top shelf. The panel detachment spring still works!

My brother had the X-Wing fighter. We had many epic battles as kids.

I want to get my son the GI Joe aircraft carrier, but you can't find one in good condition for less than 500 bucks.

I'm so old I don't remember any strong fondness for one particular toy. But I do remember that, for the most part, my world revolved around bicycles. Bikes took us to fields where we could play baseball and football, courts to play basketball and to bowling alleys when it was just too dang hot for the first three. I guess if forced to choose I'd go with Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars.

My other favorite toy was Electroman. Had to do some searching to find his name. I loved that thing. It had a motion detector so I would put him at the end of the hallway and see how close I could crawl to him before the alarm would sound. So cool.

You must not have kids. The toys today are much better.

Disagree. The toys today are flimsier and boring.

You're buying the wrong toys then. And toys are boring today because you're older.

I do have kids, and the quality is just not as good as what we had IMO. [response was to MooreTrucker]

Had Rolling Thunder. The aircraft carrier was the Holy Grail of GI Joe toys. I don't think I even knew anyone that had one. I got a cheap plastic aircraft carrier for Christmas the year I asked.

My parents mistakenly believed it could be stored under the bed when it wasn't in use. They were shocked by how big it was once they got it. My dad still talks about what a PITA it was to assemble Christmas Eve. However he also talks about how great of a gift it was because we played with it all the time for YEARS.

And damn...I remember trying for months to buy this guy and he was always out of stock. Back when you had to check in the store every day...and I did.

I think I knew one kid who had the USS Flag. He had wealthy older parents who built an entire game/toy room for him that was insane. I was practically hypnotized every time I went over.

I can't believe I forgot about model airplanes! I was never an expert builder, but I put together so many of those things between the ages of 7 & 13, it's a wonder I have any brain cells left. So many hours of exposure to Testors glue fumes!
