Absolutely love this show. My favorite show on television the last couple of years. If someone asks me to explain it, I usually compare it to Billions if Billions had much better writing, a much better story, much better acting, better humor, better drama and a non-ridiculous vibe. So I guess it's really nothing like Billions at all.

There were some great lines in this episode. But I laughed out loud when connor's girlfriend said that she thought selling seemed cool. Roman's reaction was great.

Also loved the last scene with Kendall acting like Logan's abused dog and giving Logan's threatening message to Stewey (think that's his name). Their reactions were great.

I could see Logan dying before letting anyone know about Shiv taking over. I feel like they are hinting at that by making it obvious that they will not tell anyone for the time being. Either way, it obviously won't be a smoothe transition one way or the other.

Finally watched last night. Kendall's "CNN" appearance was just absolutely painful television- he plays the beaten dog role really well.

I'm about halfway through season 1. Love it. The two characters I couldn't stand at first are now my two favorites: Tom and Roman. Is the actor that plays Tom in anything else? He's great in this show.

He was in Death at a Funeral and The Last Kingdom, that's all I've seen him in anyway.

British actor - great in Ripper Street and MI-5 (Spooks).

Tough episode tonight. Really good, but not as "fun" as this show can be at its best, which is fine and expected from time to time. Hopefully they don't drag out dead-eyed, robot Kendal for too much longer, though. I love the competition between him and Roman, but I think it can be even better once Kendal has some life/autonomy again.

Was there really a plan between Shiv and Tom for Tom to run Waystar one day? I know they had *a* plan, but it caught me off guard when Tom was disappointed it wasn't going to be him. Seems like he would have realized long ago that he had no shot, if only because he's not an actual sibling/heir. That was really the only thing that bothered me in an otherwise great (but again, brutal) episode.

Seems like Logan is going to milk this version of Kendall for all he is worth. Could see potential for him stepping aside and naming Kendall sometime in the future if he thinks he can control this robotic version of his son. Could also just be an ongoing ploy by Kendall to regain his father's trust.

Kendall's monotone dejected and scorned puppy behavior is already old. Hope this changes soon.

The caulkin brother is wearing me out. Ruining this show for me. He's getting a lot more screen time. Kendal the vampire doesn't bother me as much.

Ha, man, I think Roman is on fire this season. I love him so much. I especially loved seeing him hold his own against Kendal in the meeting with Logan and seeing how he used his particular skill set to get the down low on the union and all that. That was the first time he's actually been competent and effective and that was just fun to see.

What was the significance at the end of the episode of Kendall stealing a pack of batteries and then immediately throwing them away?

I hope it was the first flash of Kendal returning to his former self and breaking away from this robotic version. Starting with pulling the wool over Vaulter's eyes, and then a small gesture of **** you for not paying attention to your customer.

Logan explaining the timeline, including management training, was epic. And poor cousin Greg catches a break but with the usual high price attached from the Roy family. Roman has really been a great character in the first two episodes. Will be interesting to see if he does anything with Tom's digitizing idea for the news division.

The battery stealing is just a little thing he can do to still feel like he is alive and in control of anything. Even the trip to the store is him being chauffeured by the motorcycle guy.

They've done a better job of rounding out Roman so far. He was so extreme last season that it was almost a caricature. But this season he's still extreme and fun, but they've made him a bit more realistic and savvy. It's a good change.

The frequency they show Kendall's motorcycle chauffer situation is cracking me up. It's like they are trying to match the number of "**** offs" with the number of times they show Kendall arriving on the back of a bike and handing his helmet over.

I was starting to get a little weary with depressed robot Kendall, but then the manner in which he gutted Vaulter was frickin awesome. I do think he'll be breaking out of that depressed robot style much more soon.

Yeah I think we're all growing a little weary of robot-Kendall (which is surprising that it took less than 2 episodes to reach that point), so the cold, precision, uncaring way he just gutted Vaulter with no liabilities/loose-ends and every ounce of value squeezed out of it including any intellectual property that the company can claim was created under their employment ("I even made a list of all the ideas people had and most are **** but a few might have some worth") was just beautifully surgical.

I am still wrestling with the idea that Logan is playing Shiv. The scene with them and Marcia was tense. Marcia seems like she will have a big hand in this play.

Could definitely see that. Especially once he finds out that she is off the political campaign trail.

He's playing her for sure. Just wants her off the campaign

That strategy I didn't really understand... I thought the whole thing they discussed was to "keep both plates spinning" until she saw how either was actually going to play out?

Next scene she takes one of the plates and smashes it?

Yeah, I didn't quite get that either. Feels like they could have milked that for at least another couple of episodes. It was weird to see Gil turn so suddenly, too. One scene he's hinting at Cheif of Staff for Shiv, and then the very next time we see them he snaps at Shiv's remark and they're done.

Agree with the comments above - I think Logan was/is playing her to get her away from Gil, but it was really odd both how quickly and weakly that they did it.

Really having a tough time figuring out the Logan/Shiv situation. Something is off there, I wish there was some kind of hint because the Marcia thing added weirdness. I can't put my finger on it.

Loved the Logan/Kendall/Roman interaction with Vaulter, takes Roman's idea but has Kendall execute it. He's playing all the kids.

Kendall stealing the batteries to throw them away feels like one of two things. He felt like he could do anything after doing a good job for his dad and being brought into the office to help with the investors perhaps. Or he feels completely dead inside at this point and stole something to see if he felt anything.

Finally, Presidential candidate Connor Roy has a nice ring to it, let's keep that going.

I agree it seemed abrupt, but it showed that all of the kids are the same. They get a little bit of success and it goes to their head. It makes them think they can out maneuver people who are considerably more savvy than they are.

Regarding the Martia scene, I took that scene to show Logan was making moves without Martia. Before this, I had felt Martia was plotting moves with Logan, thus why she looked disappointed when he asked her to leave.

Totally agree. You could tell Marcia was surprised to see Shiv. I think if Logan screws Shiv (and at this point I think that will be the case), I think he will do it all by himself.

I get the impression that this new Logan we are seeing this season is hell bent on getting revenge from all the people that wronged him last season. Kendall for obvious reasons, Shiv for telling him to **** off, and Roman for just being incompetent and plotting with Kendall (even if he didn't go through with it). He's playing everyone and doing a great job with it.

The battery scene I took as kind of a "I'm back baby and can do anything I want to" kind of moment.

Gerri is the most underrated character on the show - I absolutely love every scene she is in. And if I were running a big corporation, she is the exact type of person I would want in that position. The "don't jump" scene from Season 1 is still one of my favorites.

Hey all, I just finished season 2 episode one. I've tried to read some recaps but was just wondering if I'm missing something. Why did Logan just buy this house with the raccoon problem? Just buying another little vacation home for himself or was there something of more significance to this? Did he have to sell a previous house or something? TIA for anyone who can fill me in.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I'm not sure they specified if he'd bought that house recently or not. He said he paid $200M for it, but he didn't say when. I thought the contractor had simply done renovations on it - they mentioned that it was a $300K job - and either the contractor or his guys did the raccoon thing to *****with Logan. The house didn't have a raccoon problem. The dead raccoons were in a black trash bag, which is how Logan knew they were stuffed in the chimney on purpose. A lot of people obviously hate the Roys because of their assh*lery, politics, etc., so I took the raccoon thing as basically a "*****you to the man" kind of thing, and then the contractor had to suffer the consequences, whether or not it was him or his guys. I could be wrong, though.
