Agreed, re: Marsha. I was definitely expecting more from her character this season. That said, that's something they can really dive into next season for sure.

Meh. My thoughts are season 1 was a complete mess but there's something that annoyingly wants me to keep watching to see how it shakes out. I doubt I will though unless I hear the writing gets substantially better in s2.

Greg and Tom are fun and interesting. The entire family is written for and acts like caricatures of characters. Maybe not Logan but the rest are.

The Ted Kennedy was too convenient. Why even go for that type of takeover if you just re shuffle the deck after the season.

I want to like the show but it just isn't doing it for me.

The last episode was a letdown. Nothing in the way of advancement of the Marsha storyline, and the Chappaquddickesque wreck has all the potential of the type of storyline anchor that the writers won't be able to shake. That was an odd finale.

I guess this show intends Brian Cox to be the protagonist, at least for s1. Everything cuts his way. He is told about the teleprompter. He is able to strongarm the no confidence vote after his son was unable to get there. Oh and he survives the hostile takeover because his junky son killed a servant.

He also seems to know about Shiv's affair. I think he has all of his kids spied on for leverage.

LOL. When Logan said "Meeting over. **** off." early in the season, I told my wife that was how I ended all of my meetings at work. I agree with their comment 100%, that is how all meetings should end.

How about Breaking Bad? Basically all of them were terrible people doing terrible things, but they were entertaining and compelling to follow. But nothing was entirely black-and-white. You found yourself rooting for awful people, or maybe more accurately, people at different points on the awful scale.
Same with The Sopranos. No real "good guys," unless you consider Melfi I guess.

Just finished the 2nd episode (waited so that I could binge the entire season) and I'm already hooked. I know it's Adam McKay's project but it's still jarring to see that it's co-exec produced by Will Ferrell.

"Sh*t Show at the F*** Factory" might be the single greatest title of an episode ever written.

Tonight's episode was the best episode of television this year. Hands down.

Just... wow. I love this show so damn much.

I haven't yet watched past this point.. but I agree. This show is awesome.

I loved Suits, because there was always a badass to clean up the mess. I love this show on the opposite end of the spectrum, because they always find a way to Silicon Valley any situation.

1. The Bernie Sanders character looked and sounded (in voice) like a hybrid of Anthony Bourdain and Elliott Gould.

2. I get tired of the Silicon Valley style "Lucy pulling the football" move.

3. Surprisingly nice ass on Siobhan.

4. Hearing the theme song every three minutes during the show is grating.

5. I found the board scene to be absurd. "Logan you're legally not allowed to be here for the vote." "Well im not leaving." "Oh okay. Well that settles it. And let's just go around the table in a random order too."

This is simultaneously cringy, hilarious, and highly entertaining.

So as Greg, he pretty much plays himself.

On a side note, I've been rewatch binging season 1 over the past few days. Just finished Prague (Tom's bachelor party). So many great Greg and Tom moments in that one.

That was phenomenal television. What a fantastic follow up to the finale and setup for the rest of the season. Just flawless execution. So captivating. So funny. So well-written. I love this show so damn much.

Godamnit I love the dialogue in this show, it's like Sorkin had a stiff drink, slowed down a bit and decided he was light on the swearing.

It smells like the cheesemonger died with his dick in the Brie.

We gotta go stuff a bag of dead raccoons into some guy's chimney. Now that's a euphemism I'm going to use in the future.

So glad this show is back.

Friend of mind just had a prediction I really don't want to be true, but seems exactly like something this show would do...

Health-wise, Logan is due for a crash sooner or later. He's been doing too good compared to how he was for most of last season. My friend is guessing that he dies by season's end, before the Shiv news is ever made public, even to the family. So we're left with a vacuum of power and a situation in which Shiv claims that dad told her she was next in line, which starts an even bigger fight among the siblings, who don't believe her. I don't know that they'd off Brian Cox at the end of season two, but the show is *literally* about who takes over for him, so it's not out of the question.

There's also the plot line teased in the preview for next week where a potential offer is teased to Shiv for a high-up position on Eavis' staff, should he win the presidency, which seems to entice her as well.

Either way, tragically, I don't see her ever achieving Waystar CEO status, either because Logan dies before it can be made official, or because she ultimately takes a too-good-to-pass-up opportunity in the White House. As good and unexpectedly emotional as that scene was between her and Logan, when she finally accepts, there was definitely a too-good-to-be-true vibe lurking just below the surface.

Can't remember if I mentioned it last year but my wife's cousin is on the writing staff for season 2. Cool gig for him to get.

Great start to season 2. The cheesemonger and raccoon lines were classic. I knew Greg was going to say that he got the coke from the park. I had forgotten how much Kendall says "Uh huh, yeah, okay." My wife instantly commented on Shiv's haircut happening immediately after her wedding, so I laughed when Roman brought it up.

Regarding Logan's sickness, i did think he got too well too quickly in S1. For the first half of the season he was dying and didn't know where he was, but then all of a sudden he was the all powerful master of the universe again. I'm assuming this show will only be 3 or 4 seasons, so having Logan pass near the end of this season would make sense storytelling-wise. Next season could deal with the fallout and battle for control.

Even though Shiv seems to be the only family member halfway capable of taking over the company I don't see it happening. Whether its the WH staff appointment or Logan playing games I just cant imagine the line of succession moving in her direction.

I hope they don't kill Logan, he's too good to do that, he's such a huge personality that it would be a mistake to lose him. It's definitely not going to be as easy as they are laying this out to be though. Shiv is the only true heir of his with any ability to take control of this company, but when he was talking to her wasn't one of her recommendations to get rid of news? (I could be forgetting something) Which would be contrary to what Logan's vision is. The news is important to him, regardless of what his kids think.

In the post show scenes they did show Gil talking about White House appointments, thinking he's going to win. I could see Shiv telling Logan it's now or she has to go to the White House with Gil. Logan could say it's too soon, Shiv bails.

Also, isn't it a bit more complicated than Logan choosing his successor personally? Doesn't the entire board have to vote on the CEO? Even if Logan wants her can he get the board together on this when her experience is minimal and it sounds like her fast tracking will be behind the scenes.

I thought that part was hilarious because she then turned around and put her husband in charge of the area she wants to drop.
