How long do you want to ignore this user?
Today driving to work I was thinking about Stan confronting his best friend Phillip

Phillip: Look Stan I'm sorry I haven't been active for the last year or two
Stan:. Thank goodness I just saw pictures of a lady with her head and hands cut off by an axe
Phillip: oh, about that...

Looks like I was wrong about Stan's girlfriend. Next prediction I'll be wrong about: I think Phil will end up killing Elizabeth after Elizabeth kills Stan (although someone might've already mentioned that). I just don't see Stan making it. I do still think Phil went to Chicago for Oleg. They never said what message they were passing back and forth at the fence I don't think. Up in the air about Paige. Maybe somehow Elizabeth gets her killed and that's what makes Philip kill her.

Elizabeth kills herself when caught by Stan. Philip turns himself to Stan and gives up all the secrets and goes into witness protection. Stan promises to take care of Henry. Paige is sent to Russia by the Center. Oleg is caught by the Commies and goes sleeping with the fishes. Stan is forced to retire. The end.

Honestly, don't know how it all plays out.

All we can be sure of is dead people.

If we get out of this without a main character death I will be let down.

About Rene.

Phillip & Elizabeth asked Claudia a while back if she knew if the center placed her in Stan's life. From what I remember, Claudia didn't know the answer. So we still don't have any resolution, right?

She's a wildcard to me. Surely she wouldn't have raised Philip's suspicions with nothing there?

I'm hoping Rene was just a red (pardon the pun) herring. Plenty of material with Oleg, the Jennings, Stan, etc to have this come apart without a screwy twist like that. This show has always shown the full characters (ie if they are working two sides, we see them doing it), so to have spent a couple of seasons hiding her background would be out of character. They are better than that.

My prediction was that she was the one that got Stan to look into Philip and Elizabeth bc I thought her being a Russian was too obvious. I thought her absence from the last episode was interesting so I'm on board with her being a spy now.

Beyond counting blue cars, what did yall think of the convo btwn Elizabeth and Paige? Seemed pretty half assed to me. Hopefully Paige goes down.
Now all I can think about is that Dishwalla song
Paige should have asked many questions...like children often do.

Remember when Paige told us all her thoughts on God?

She's always asking Elizabeth why they're who they are

There was also that trip to Germany because of her dying grandmother, 'cause she'd really like to meet her.

The actor playing Phillip really deserves an Emmy for that episode. The close ups on his face as he contemplated his life and actions...he looks ravaged.

Why no scenes for next week?!

Finally got caught up.

Imagine being the guy who could have slept with Keri Russel, but instead *****d a couch.

You'd have to imagine it, because it was imaginary.

It's easier to imagine yourself as the guy that jerks off to Keri Russell. Then you can make that dream come true. Or cum true.

Yeah, matthew rhys has been great with this for the past couple of seasons, and this episode really highlighted it.

I'd never heard of him before this show, so it was weird to see him 4 or 5 seasons into the Americans appear on a late night talk show speaking with a heavy Welsh accent.

Reminds me of the first time I saw the actor I only knew as Stringer Bell do an interview

lol...yeah. seemed so inner city Baltimore and....he's a brit.

of course i thought Jimmy McNulty was American too... I had seen Dominic West before but always as an American except in Rock Star and there I assumed he was an American doing a British accent - lol.

That entire scene was a ruse concocted by Elizabeth and Claudia to convince Paige that sex isn't a tool that they use. She made up that whole story to sound innocent and "normal," although we know from the 1st episode that her first sexual experiences were when her KGB trainer brutally raped her repeatedly.

The most manipulative thing about this scene was that the evening of drinking and opening up about their sexual secrets was designed to give Paige a bonding experience between the 3 women as they admitted to embarrassing secrets & vulnerable truths about themselves. But in reality, every word coming out of Elizabeth's and Claudia's mouths were lies.

Noah Emmerich is doing some great work in this too. He's not flashy, he doesn't get to wear wigs or do spy work. He has to spend a lot of time listening and observing. But I can't wait for the Hank/Walt style confrontation between Phillip and Stan. Stan knows, he just doesn't know that he knows.

Well that was good.... damn they have a lot of loose ends all of a sudden.

No idea which one it will be that undoes them but

1. The Senators intern guy, she let him live.
2. Turns out the guy from the travel office knows something was going on - Philip should have killed him too but maybe he is too close and would raise to much suspicion.
3. what's Philip doing renting Russian movies - I was just waiting for Stan to knock and have it on pause but still could be a clue.
4. Whats this with the priest - they have not been going to Russian Orthodox churches...maybe he is tipping them off though about the feds asking questions.
5. I thought the painting was going to be another but she did burn it eventually. However I noticed she was in one of the garages after they talked about the FISA warrants and sitting on the garages for 48 hours so they could have seen her or the car.

And the previews - always felt like Pastor Tim would come back to bite them in the ass.

damn....gonna be good.

DannyDuberstein
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They're likely watching the priest which will put them onto Phillip.

Interesting to see Elizabeth go thru in one episode what we've seen happen to Phillip over 2 seasons. The artist got to her, along with Phillip's speech about how they are the ones that have to do it, so they get to decide.

Very surprised to see Pastor Tim. Not sure how I feel about that one. Seems a bit overboard.

As far as the suit goes, I just thought it was him to be embracing his russkie side and he's expecting it all to come to a crashing end. Soon.

They are trying to redeem Elizabeth a little bit which pretty much flies in the face of everything else she has done this season. No way she does not kill that kid based on everything else she has done up until today.

A little annoying but I guess it is to be expected.

The bit with Phillip and the suit was pretty weird and an open ended question for next week.

Stan has it figured out but I am not sure if they actually get fully busted at this point.
The change in Elizabeth has everything to do with what Philllip told her regarding the subversion of Gorbachev. She suddenly found out that she might be fighting for the wrong side. At that point, her gaining information about the summit is one thing (after all she herself wanted to know the truth), but killing an innocent over it is another. That is nothing like killing for the "good guys" (in her view).
