Yeah.......so
Arguably one of the best super hero movies to date IMHO. I would put it equal to the other top Marvel films
Spider-Man Homecoming = Iron Man = Captain America = Winter Soldier = Guardians of the Galaxy = Avengers
Won't try to rank the rest after that. Dark Knight would probably sit just above those.
Definitely the best Spider-Man iteration. Helps me forget Maguire. I did like Garfield's films but not nearly as well done as this.
Loved that they didn't try to retell the origin story.
So well written and well acted by Tom Holland and Michael Keaton. Humor level was awesome and so well done.
Definitely going to try to see this again in theaters. Haven't done that since the first Guardians.
TCTTS - interested to hear your take. Or maybe you should start a non-Flash thread for your review.
I think his new thing with these fanboy movies is if he doesn't love it, he doesn't post his thoughts. I don't blame him though. He gets dumped on when he doesn't post glowing reviews.
Sorry, I just haven't had the time to post - or really even solidify - my thoughts. But yeah, I usually just stay away if I have nothing good to say or don't feel like battling the masses.
But I actually loved the movie for the most part.
I'd say about half an hour in I was convinced it was going to be my new number one over GOTG2, but the second half or so kind of showed some cracks. Still, I'd probably put it in my top five Marvel movies, maybe even top three.
My biggest mistake was peeking in this thread before I saw the movie. I wanted to know what people were thinking and so I just lightly skimmed, trying to avoid any spoilers, but at one point I accidentally read the words "Liz," "twist," and "front door." And so the second Peter and Ned showed up to Liz's massive house for the party, I immediately guessed that she was Toomes' daughter and that Toomes' business had reaped a hefty financial reward. Was so pissed at myself, and it definitely took away some of the surprise of the ending.
Still, overall, it made me miss how truly FUN movies like this can and should be. I loved Tom Holland's performance, I loved the way Tony/the concept of The Avengers were seamlessly integrated, and I was so glad Peter made the decision he did at the end, because I can't wait to hang out with all these characters again in high school for another movie.
