I have not seen that one but their website says 8+ for age. One Reddit post says their is implied sex in a dance number. If you google "Hadestown age rating" none of the comments sound any worse than Hamilton. I'd probably take our 9 year olds to it. We just happened to be out of town when the tour came through Dallas a few months ago or I'd have a better answer.

not a true Boradway show, but we saw "An Evening with Kristen Chenoweth" with the Colorado Symphony last weekend and it was great. Man can she sing, and stories were great too. I'd highly recommend it if it comes near you.

Saw Hadestown last night in Denver and it was amazing. We had listened to the music quite a bit and I did some explaining of the story to my 8yo before hand. She loved every minute of it. The set and all the performers where great. It wasn't inappropriate at all for my daughter (I had asked earlier in the thread) but the story could be hard for someone younger coming in without any background. Wait For Me and Why We Build the Wall gave me chills and Epic III was stunning.

If you get a chance, go see it.

Another show that was a surprise, similar to Hadestown, was Come From Away. I have been finding myself listening to the soundtrack quite frequently. If you have the opportunity go see it. Well worth it.

I agree with you. I did not relate to it at all, and it was one of my least favorite musicals.

The only good thing about it was intermission, when I saw it in NYC a few years back, and you could buy a small pie for a snack.

Come From Away is great, I'm seeing it for the second time here in Denver next month, it's in my top 5 favorites.
We got our season ticket shows for 23/24 and it's not bad, but we will probably see most all the extras too (thoughts for my CC bill)

We saw Six in London back last November. Loved it. Just fun. And was really cool getting to see it in England.

We saw Six when we went to NYC to see Music Man in February, and I haven't stopped playing the soundtrack since. It's a TON of fun and I can't wait to see it again in Houston in a few weeks.

They released a live recording of the opening night performance and you can hear the crowd roaring and clapping along.

Just went to NYC last week and here's what I saw:

A Strange Loop - I love that this show exists and that it got this production with the investment and that it is running on Broadway. It's an important piece of theatre. That said, it could have used some more work. It's story telling gets lost a bit in the construct of a play within a play within a play. It's certainly not for everyone but worth seeing. Do some research so you know what you're getting yourself into if you do go to this.

1776 - This script is super clunky to begin with but this production did a good job with it. There's some really powerful moments but overall the show is probably just ok. Part of me wishes they would have just written a new show instead of trying to use this one but the fact that it was written in the 70s about the 1770s and a lot of the text is still relevant is interesting.

The Piano Lesson - The cast is great. August Wilson is great at monologues and dialogue. I'm not enthralled with the play itself if that makes sense. The production was fantastic. I'm just not sure this is one of my favorite. I appreciate it's place in his cycle but if it weren't for Samuel L Jackson I probably would have skipped this one. I also got an understudy for Danielle Brooks and that could have thrown things off a bit so early in the run.

Kimberly Akimbo - Loved this one. Good musical, funny and moving. The cast was good. I am pretty sure I saw the play version of this years ago. It makes a good musical though and it's one that I'm not at all bothered is based on other material.

Leopoldstadt - Very good play, very well directed, very well acted. Very heavy subject but incredibly fascinating. It's also loosely autobiographical if I'm understanding it right. Likely Stoppard's last play given his age so I'm glad I caught it in the original production.

It's basically impossible to pick a favorite, but Moulin Rouge surprised me the most and was an absolute blast to watch. I think the cast in that was overall the most talented group of people I've ever seen in any one production and I did not stop smiling the entire time. Prior to seeing MR I would have said the same about Hamilton (in NYC). I still think it's a great production, I'm personally just burned out on a lot of it.

Music Man was a delight solely because Hugh Jackman's energy is insanely infectious, otherwise it's just an okay show.

The only ones I would not watch again are Miss Saigon and Oklahoma (unless someone revives a version of it that isn't depressing and weird af).

Agloahfour you made the wise decision and bailed at intermission for Oklahoma in FW. I stayed and the show only got worse. It was a horrible adaptation of the Oklahoma. I have no idea how this show continues to get booked in large venues.

I think Hamilton is definitely a "love it or hate it" type of musical. We're on different sides of that, and that's ok.

I like it because it's unlike any musical I had ever seen before - the creativity in the show, the casting and the lyricism changed my view of "musicals" forever.

It is a love letter (through rose colored lenses) to the country, written by the son of immigrants. There's also homages to some of the best hip hop artist of all time written into the music which are fun Easter Eggs to some like me.

I actually enjoyed the most recent version. But I also knew going into it that it was a reinterpretation of the original. I do think they could have done a little bit better preparing people for stark differences.

Overall, I thought it was an interesting take on it.

Watched Six a few weeks ago. I enjoyed it. Definitely the shortest show I have ever seen. Music was great and the ladies were all very good.

Jesus Christ Superstar is next but looking to sell those seats. Next up is Tina.

Some good news. I have been hearing some rumor mill talk that Aida might make a return.

Rereading my OP is humorous. My top 5 is much different presently.
