Houston's "theater under the stars" is doing Little Shop of Horrors right now at the Hobby Center. Thought they did a great job with it. I always loved the movie with Rick Moranis, and was surprised at the end to find that the movie has a completely different ending than the musical.

However, over the top with cursing and homosexual themes. If this is a problem for you, don't bother. You won't like it.
Songs were really good. Both of our leads were fantastic. The part of Lydia, Madison Mosley, could easily play Elphaba. She has some fantastic pipes. It is crazy that this part is her first tour. If I hear that she is playing Elphaba or Eurydice (Hadestown), I'll be at the show. She should have a great future.

Huge musical nerd here. We have season tix to The Fox in Atlanta as well as the Classic Center at UGA. I've seen about 100 shows in the last 10 years.
The best show I've seen lately would be Six. Just a lot of fun with great music.

We are seeing Guttenberg! this coming Friday in a super small theater here in Denver. I know little to nothing about it, but hoping it's not too raunchy since my 10yo will be with us. But we made it through Jagged Little Pill so it can't be much worse right?
Just got back from NYC. Saw Hadestown, Wicked and Once Upon a Mattress, in that order. Wish I had seen them in the opposite order. Mattress was entertaining... Sutton Foster was fantastic and Ana Gasteyer was really good too. It's pretty silly though and probably would have been more memorable had I not just seen 2 all time great musicals.
5th time seeing Wicked. Never gets old. We got the Elpheba stand in, but she used to be the touring Elpheba. Didn't feel cheated at all.
First time seeing Hadestown, and I'm glad I went in not knowing the music or the story. It was phenomenal. It's now in my top 3 with Wicked and Hamilton.
Fun story...after the show, my 15 year old daughter wanted to wait by the stage doors to get Jordan Fisher's autograph. We saw Hermes and a couple of others walk out, but we realized we didn't have a pen. So I ran across the street to CVS and bought a Sharpie. Got back just in time to see him walking out. My daughter chased him down the street and was able to get it. Definitely the highlight of her trip.

The Six "live on opening night" cast recording is phenomenal. That show is a blast and the music is great. The touring casts are excellent too.
I saw Suffs last week which I give a solid B. It felt like a really good AP American History project. The music was fine, the acting was excellent and the performers were solid. It was very cool to see the actress who played the pilot in Come from Away in another role - love her voice. The show did a good job telling stories that many don't know, and while it was moving at times it never really took off for me. I could see the clear influence of Hamilton and Ragtime on the book and some of the songs, both of which are much better executed shows.
