How long do you want to ignore this user?
I cringe every time Paige and her ugly boyfriend are together in a scene

not that it matters, but I thought there was something that identified him as North Vietnamese?

Yeah I noticed that this week. Makes sense too.

I'm not saying she's Dana Brody, but the Paige thing needs to come to a head, two years now of her in this same spot.
Even mentioning Paige and Dana Brody in the same post is sacrilegious! Sure, Paige's story is (unnecessarily) slow, but I trust that it's at least going somewhere, and I can't wait to see if the Pastor Tim thing comes up again.

Matthew's face, when he knew he had the go-ahead to go into 2nd base, was priceless.

Laurie Holden (Stan's new girl) - Is she CIA/FBI? We'll see.

This. Just kill the damn boyfriend already. Make it look like an accident.

Too much drama involving someone making out with someone else. I lost interest 2 seasons ago when Phillip Jennings hung out at some house with a little girl whose father appears to be a Pentagon official.

new running joke -

"Where's Henry?"

I find it hilarious they toss this in quite often to explain his absence while they talk spy stuff with Paige

"Oh, he's still at school"

"Oh, he's at the library"

gotta come up with new stuff since "He's at Stan's" isnt working anymore since Paige is there letting Matthew hit second base

No idea where the Stan and Oleg stories are going, but this seems to pick up about where last season was with both of them becoming disenchanted with their govt.

Stan's new girlfriend - someone above asked whether she was cia/fbi. How about kgb?

As a big Reagan fan, I love it when they mention him and their words drip with hatred.

I'm still holding out hope that the last season will show them going through the USSR collapse. I wanna see the look on elizabeth's face when her beloved communist motherland fails and she realizes her career was meaningless

Yeah, the juxtaposition of the proserous, capitalist American Midwest versus the famine and neglect of the Soviet Union was a first on TV in a long time... a naked depiction of communism as an injust and inefficient means of production and government.

Not to get all political board on this thread, but it was refreshing.

My wife and I thought those first 2 episodes were the worst of the series, and we've been watching since day 1. Pretty disappointed so far.

my immediate thought when they introduced the character. she's KGB fo sho.

Surely they are going to flip Stan at some point?!!?
Presley OBannons Sword

I don't think Stan flips. I think Stan ends up cracking the case. I could see them potentially getting some dirt on him and trying to flip him, and then him sacrificing himself to out them. But I think Stan stays a good guy.

Man, I definitely didn't find those first two eps bad. Lots of stuff being setup.

Really like the thought of Phillip's son defecting to come find him and it being a problem. The Paige drama may seem drawn out, but frankly her tenuous situation drive much of the show. I could see Stan's gf being someone relevant, but I don't think she's going to be Russian. I think the Center would have gotten word to P&E and their handlers if another asset was coming in to try and turn someone they are so close to. The KGB isn't unaware of their friendship.

my thinking is Stan's gf stumbles on the truth about Phillip - she met him already - and winds up dead as a result.

and that leads to Stan getting closer to finding out too....not soon though like way down the road.

I could definitely see that happening. She is going to play a big part in this season, you can just tell.
Squirrel Master
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, that's really believable. She's going to start being over at Stan's when Paige is there and pick up on some stuff and start asking questions/getting Stan thinking.

With Henry, we have a Walt from Lost type situation... he's growing faster than makes sense for the timeline of the show... so since we can't ship him off the island to only return later as 'taller ghost walt'... we just get the running joke series of places a kid could be...

Every time they tell Paige more information I get more and more nervous they'll be exposed.

Loved the Martha sighting. How crazy would it be to leave your happy life in DC and end up hunting for scraps on empty shelves in Russia.

so this entire story (wheat and bugs) was a setup from the writers, i mean to give them something more benign and palatable to make them not so sinister to Paige. meh.

We didn't need to do anything to undermine the russian economy or crops they were screwing it all up themselves through corruption and ineptitude.

it's a reach. and they are showing the Russian corruption and how their system doesn't work but at the same time blaming the US. that seems odd. i mean Phillip is taking notice of some of the political BS and questioning things but thats about it.

just seems really odd to me that they are enjoying the fruits of the good life in the US and yet think it is the evil empire still? they've been here a long time and still think it is evil - when they have complete freedom, are never questioned or interrogated and have more food to eat than anyone they knew in Russia, clothes too, vacations, etc. it's just starting to stretch believability. It was better when it stuck to spy stuff and weapons - thats believable.

well i still enjoy the show. and yeah the cowgirl outfit....yee-haw!!!!!

So what's the deal with the bug bite on Elizabeth's leg? Anything?

The bite was featured when it happened and again later when she reached down to scratch.

I think that it will end up being nothing. Nixon's treaty that banned bio-weapons allowed for the development them for the purposes of coming up with countermeasures. I think what will happen is that Phillip and Elizabeth will bring Paige closer to the dark side (thinking it's the light side) under the false premise that the US is going to poison the Soviets. When it turns out that none of that is the case, then they would have done lots of bad things for nothing. Then they will be in even more of a quandary on what to do with Paige. It will be a "do we want her to get involved in this?" sort of thing.

Just wait until the flash - forward episode to 2016 where 70 year old Philip and Elizabeth work side by side with Trump and co to "steal" the election

I absolutely agree....after I posted I left and ran errands and was still thinking about it and I decided the story here wouldn't be that they were actually were doing what they imagine, but the realization that they weren't - especially after

a. letting Paige in on it and
b. so callously killing that guy who will be an innocent victim

In fact I now think Oleg in his role may be the one that figures it out - that the russians are doing it to themselves and he may pay the ultimate price for it. And yeah the Paige quandary also gets more complicated.

You've also got the obvious foreshadowing of the russian family dragged to America - what happens to them when the reverse happens, Phillip is already thinking about that.

It's a good dramatic setup really....just kinda boring right now. We shall see.
