Gareth Edwards (Rogue One) directed Godzilla. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) directed Kong: Skull Island. Same producers/studio, not same director. And yeah, Godzilla vs. Kong is currently set for May 29, 2020, a little over a year after the Untitled Godzilla Sequel on March 22, 2019.

I dont knwo what I expected different, but I was pretty disappointed in Godzilla.Just didnt think there was much to it. Glad to see Kong has a different director.

I normally would pass on these, but the cast is great, and the trailer looked good, so I'm in.

I thought Kong looked plenty big enough. Much bigger than Jackson's Kong.

I feel like the JCR bits were added to appeal to the under 20 crowd.

Here's the general plot of Godzilla vs. Kong:

Kong and Godzilla will be drawn to the same area and will begin fighting. Then, a larger, more destructive monster will appear and Kong and Godzilla will team up to take down this new world-threatening menace.

I know I just gave you the plot to Batman v Superman, but I still think I'd rather watch Godzilla v Kong: Dawn of Jurassic.

I guess I'm alone in thinking this just looks awful.

It looks fun. So much the opposite of Jackson's version. This looks entertaining.

Trailer made it look a little campy. I was kinda hoping for a more dark tale

First trailer is all they should have released. No direct shots of Kong, just the blurry one in front of the sun and a close up of his head looming in the shadows of a giant flame. Everything else was more shots showing the signs of his passing that hint at his immense size. Let peoples imaginations go to work in the buildup to the movie. Instead they just show clip after clip of him in action, and give away what the "evil" monsters are. Its like the comedy trailers that put the funniest lines/scenes in the trailer so that when you finally see it in theater hardly anyone laughs.

The first trailer had me excited. This second trailer threw a bucket of cold water on that anticipation.

The tone between the trailers is all different, in large part because of John C. Reilly's character. Introducing evil lizard monsters has me rolling my eyes.

I'll still keep an eye on this, but I'm not nearly as intrigued as I was before.

I agree. I think they shat the bed by showing everything up front. Hollywood find a way to ruin Jaws if it were made today.

I need Kong and Godzilla to team up with the mechs and save us from some Kaiju in Rock'em Sock'em Robots 3.

It looks like fun. As to the "plot" in the 50's this would have been a second feature from Universal made in the studio for about $100,000. BUT Samuel L Jackson, John C Reilly, and John Goodman together. Now that's awesome. It looks like the three of them may actually have some fun with this while this overblown epic is going on around them.

Anyone ever seen the first King Kong, 1933, Fay Wray? Made before the Hollywood dress or undress code.

She was also in The Most Dangerous Game, a movie referred to in the Zodiac.

Wray really was her name, or at least her screen name.

I still don't know what to think about this one. It looks like a ton of fun, and I love the overall Apocalypse Now vibe, but it also feels kind of cartoony and been-there-done-that.

It's gonna be a great one-two punch over two weekends with Kong followed by Beauty and the Beast. Cannot wait to see both of these. And one of my all-time favorites is the old, very bad in a great way King Kong vs Godzilla, so I'm looking forward to seeing that too.

Don't forget Logan a week before on March 3. March is insane this year.

The size of Kong is all over the place in those posters. Some he makes helicopters look tiny, and some he makes people look bigger than the helicopters.

Heard there is supposed to be something after the credits, possibly to tease the Godzilla tie-in

If I see that in the theater it will be the first X-Men movie I've seen in theaters. Just never could get interested enough, and yeah, I've seen them all on DVD and I do actually like the Wolverine character. Still, I may very well see this one in the theater as well.

was gonna say, John C Riley appears to have been the pilot.

Seeing the newer trailer more this past week on tv. It looks interesting.

But whenever I see Samuel L. Jackson's character I keep thinking:

"Enough is ENOUGH!! I've had it...with this mother-f---ing Kong...on this mother-f---ing island!!!"

So, I guess I'm alone in liking Peter Jackson's version?
