Honestly, I still think Craig gives it one more go - as the article says is still a possibility - but it's good to hear that things are at least officially moving.

I like the Entourage reference in that article. Hiddleston is getting Vinnie'd?

I agree about the downton abbey possibility but I'd lean to Dan Stevens (Daniel)

Dalton is underrated as Bond because the writing was so bad. He was a great pick for the role and was actually offered it before Roger Moore, but turned it down because he was too young.

Moore was the worst. I grew up with Moore (my dad's favorite) but he did multiple terrible Bond movies (A View to Kill, Moonraker, Octo*****, Man with Golden Gun, Live and Let Die) with only one good one (Spy Who Loved Me.)

The best three Bond films are Goldfinger, Skyfall, and Casino Royale. Goldeneye was very good, but the rest of Brosnans were not.

Craig was a great Bond, and I like him over Connery. I feel like the things that both have in common is both are very smooth, yet both can credibly fight. Moore wasn't going to beat anyone in a fight, unless maybe it was a fellow senior citizen. Dalton was more credible with the grittiness than Brosnan, but I think Brosnan had the suaveness better. Ultimately, I think Craig edges out Connery (who did define the role) because he was a much better actor, he played the emotional side much better (especially in Skyfall and the death of Vesper). Connery wins nostalgia points, but it is not quite enough to make up for Craig's higher level of overall talent.

As an aside, has anybody seen Moore in the movie Ffolkes?

It has some shades of his Bond without a lot of his campiness.

Not really understanding the love for Goldeneye. Yeah, it was an iconic video game for anyone who grew up in the 90s, but I watched the film again recently and didn't think it held up well at all. Maybe it's just because the Craig entries were so solid, and Casino Royale is probably my favorite Bond flick overall. Anyone else re-watch Goldeneye or any others and have a change of heart?

I do think the movie benefits a positive halo effect from the game. Goldeneye the game is considered by many the #1 game of all time for that console if not top 3. I know it was the best one I played on it.

I know appreciation for films is subjective and we all have different facets of each Bond universe that we like but . . . Rotten Tonatoes is a decent aggregator of the perception of each film.

For Moore, you have

2 highly regarded Bond films (one which is generally regarded as one of the best overall Bond films)
The Spy Who Loved Me 79/76
For Your Eyes Only 74/64

And some reasonable but flawed entires
Live and Let Die 66/65
Moonraker 60/43
The Man with the Golden Gun 45/57

And two clunkers
Octo***** 42/47
A View to a Kill 36/41

Firstly, yes. The game is iconic and awesome, so that doesn't hurt.

But the movie is great. Sean Bean was a fantastic villain, Famke Janssen was one of the better secondary villains (man or woman), and Brosnan was the perfect blend of suave and brutal as Bond.

Imo, the opening dam / plane stunts are probably the best Bond opening scene.

Goldeneye is a good movie for sure, but it definitely gets a huge boost because of the game.

By the way, don't play the game now if you have a chance to... Let the nostalgia stay intact.

Daniel Craig Bond is basically Jason Bourne, right? He's not even all that charming or that good with a punchline

Bond can't be funny anymore, because of Austin Powers.

Yep. Thought that ever since First Class.

There are talks of Tom Hiddleston doing it. He did pretty well in The Night Manager so I could see that working, but I think I would prefer Fassbender.

Good movie - James Bond taking on Norman Bates on a North Atlantic oil rig.

After just finishing the newest season of Peaky Blinders, I really wish they would consider Cillian Murphy. He's Irish though.

Guess where Pierce Brosnan is from.

George Lanzeby is an Aussie.

Don't think they care where Bond is from, as long as he isn't a Yank and can do the proper accent.

Well alright then! Continuing on with actors from Peaky Blinders, I will state again that I believe Tom Hardy could be one of the best Bond Villains of all time. His character in that show is absolutely superb.

Some article earlier mentioned Jamie Bell. I dont know about being Bond, but he is killing it on Turn. I expect him to start starring in some big movies soon. Ones that require acting, not fantastic4.

After I saw Locke I said that Tom Hardy was doing an audition for the most timid Bond villain of all time. He's not even a bad guy in it, but his delivery just seemed very Bond villain like.

Just watched First Class last night. Man, I love that movie. Fassbender is f-ing great.

Love the scene where he kills the guys in the bar in Argentina. You could literally lift that scene and insert it into a Bond movie.

Thought the exact same thing during that scene.

He just seems like a great successor in keeping with the 'gritty' Bond theme that we've seen with Craig.
