Joseph Gordon Levitt would be an awesome Bond. Not sure if being American keeps him out though.
Probably about as good as a snowball's in hell. I don't see an American ever being cast as Bond personally.
Idris Elba would have been perfect, but he's doing The Dark Tower movie(s) and I wonder how that would affect his casting. I don't see a British actor turning down Bond, though. Sounds like there is a lot of heat around Tom Hiddleston (Loki from the Thor/Avengers movies) and I think he would be a solid choice.
If they wanted to go younger this series, the guy who played Robb Stark might be an interesting choice.

At this point I feel like if it's not Elba Id want someone relatively unknown. I just think Elba would be so damn good. He can play suave, sexy, menacing, strong....he's fantastic.
Elba would be my pick. Having a girl bond is just dumb and they do need to bring back Bond the womanizer.
As much as I would love to see Elba as Bond, I don't see it happening for one very important reason that has nothing to do with race:
He may be too old. He's 45 right now and would be over 50 by the time he would be filming his second Bond film. That's probably too old to set him up in this franchise. Hiddleston is almost 10 years younger and Hardy isn't quite 40 yet.

Elba turns 44 in a few months. You could definitely get one film out of him, but he'd likely be pushing 50 and starting to show his age by the time his second movie began filming. I don't think that works. Bond is supposed to merge the athleticism and energy of youth with the sophistication of older age. Also his lady killer persona is supposed to stem from his looks and confidence, and the palpable air of danger that surrounds him. He's not supposed to be a sugar daddy AT ALL. Put it all together and I think you should cast a guy who's in the 35-40 range. 4 years doesn't sound like much but it's a lot in that age window.
Elba has the sophistication, but I think he'd struggle with the younger man elements after one film.

I love Tom Hardy, but i don't think he would be a good Bond. He is too brute force IMO. Plus grunty.

Daniel Craig is 5'10" and if I had one complaint about him it was that he was too short. In fact he had to wear lifts on several scenes with tall actresses.
One thing is a given. Bond has to be taller than the Bond Girls even in heels.
5'10" was a stretch (pun intended) for Bond. Anything below that is ludicrous.
by the way Rob James-Collier who I posted a pic of above...is 6'2".
It's about the right time. he last Bond film he did was pretty bad compared to the others. However, I did enjoy all his previous ones.
