Uproxx has gone sooooooo downhill lately. I still browse the site and their recaps are generally still good but it's getting really trashy there.

Lol at the guys that think the writers were taking a jab at Reagan when he failed explain his plan to save America in the bathroom to a State Trooper.

The jab was when Reagan asked him about his service then started talking about a movie. Talk about ****** chills.

AfterBuzz TV has a Fargo podcast, but I can't vouch for the quality of it. They are very hit or miss with their panels.

Anyone have any expectations about what role the alien visitors might play by the season's end?

I think it would be neat if the show ended in a giant KC-Gerhardt night-time shootout at the Gerhardt farm that Lou's caught in the middle of. The farm catches fire and Dodd's about to kill Lou in the flaming building when the aliens freeze time for everyone but Lou, who escapes, then time turns back on and the house collapses on a furious Dodd. Lou then says f*** this crazy s*** and decides to cook waffles the rest of his life.

Any other hopes / expectations?

Nope.

I am not going to try and theorize anything about this and just trust the writers. I got burned on the whole "True Detective Yellow King" thing to try and make wild theories that can only disappoint.

I'm just going to watch and see what happens.

Anyone going down the alien fishing hole is going to be disappointed. I dont expect it to matter much the rest of the way.

Also, completely agree on UPROXX. They are awful now. They've *****d themselves out to click-bait promoted articles and just pure trash. It also doesn't help that their crop of bloggers suck nuts. Kurp is ok at times, Rowles can be ok but he's full of himself and he rips from other reviews(imo), and Danger has nothing to do now that Franks and Boosh is off the air. The rest are flat awful.

Sucks, because it was a decent site at once. Now I mainly go there just once a day at most to check the "what's on tonight" and make sure I don't miss anything.

I expect the aliens to be used for nothing more significant than Lorne Malvo watching wolves at the end of season 1.

Symbolic, but totally irrelevant to the plot

Someone fill me in on the alien bit. I need to rewatch some episodes because I've been having to watch them really quickly because the last month has been crazy busy.

opening ep...after Rye killed everyone in the diner, he went out and saw the UFO overhead. Then in ep 2 they mention aliens.

It coincides with UFO sightings at the time and was a nod to the Coen Brothers' use of a UFO in The Man Who Wasn't There.

it's just symbolic and wont matter. I think it could represent Kansas City and what's coming in. It's a different kind of business moving in that the Gerhardt's have no idea how to truly deal with. It's something that the local authorities have never seen before, etc. In the end of all the events...if KC comes in harder and continues to rain down fury, people get caught up in the web of it and die, and then it'll all go away and everyone in Fargo and that area are going to be left looking around going "who the **** were all they? What the **** was all that? Are they gone?"

Sort of like what someone who would see a UFO might react.

So I'm all caught up, and I'm surprised to say that I think this season is better than the last one. And whoever's running music is a genius.

I think I'm definitely enjoying season 2 more than I did season 1. That's saying a lot.

Tonight's episode was tense. Here's hoping the last 4 keep it up, and we see one of the finest seasons ever of a television show.

Ted Danson telling Peggy..."you're a little touched aren't ya"

And drunk Carl the attorney....dang near everything that character says has me rolling on the floor. "Shut up Sonny."

Tonight was tense and tight but fun. That's how you do a "filler episode"

I love the stand offs

Far from filler if you ask me.

I agree that S2 is better than S1. Best show on TV.

Sorry. I don't mean there to be a negative connotation to the standoffs. All I mean is that in an episode that relied heavily on it, the plot was still great

This episode probably only covered about 1-2 hours in Fargo storyline.

The daughter's drawing the mother looked at in last week's episode also had a UFO in it.

There's been a reference in most episodes this season.

Tonight's episode felt like a bit of an odd change of pace. The thing that bothered me most, though, was not showing us if the sheriff searched the house after waking up, and him not making any mention of what happened at the house when he radioed in. That just seemed like an irrational thing to leave out just to give us a little drama about what Ed will find when he gets home.

It was also disappointing they showed us the start of the attack on the Gerhardts, but nothing more. Show us the whole fight. No need to create those two cliffhangers. Everyone's coming back to watch next week, but now there isn't as much to talk about when discussing what happened this week.

I appreciated the funk version of "man of constant sorrow" at the end. Awesome Coen brothers shout out.

And I didn't get the impression that last night was filler episode at all. I thought it moved it along nicely.

Nick Offerman's reaction after the gerhardts turned to leave was an amazing piece of acting. That was a fantastic scene.

Holy crap on Peggy's basement hoarding.

I LOVE this season.

I thought Hanzee was going to shoot Ed before he got in the car.

Peggy is a bit of a bad ass!

I am with the poster who said they want to know what happened when Hank got up. There is at least 1 dead guy in the basement. Not sure if Peggy killed the 2nd guy or just knocked him out and then there is Dodd.

Really good scene in the basement. All conventional wisdom tells you that Peggy is going to get caught.

Pretty great stuff from Offerman. I thought he was a dead man.

He's money in every scene he's in, but his whole exchange with the outside the police station was brilliant. His monologuing when he came to meet his client was really fantastic too.

I really can't call this a filler episode either, the thing that stood out to me the most was the willingness of the Gerhardts to face off against the police. I was a little surprised they'd be that bold, but I guess that would be the reality of crime syndicate vs small local police force. There were some great moments from Lou and Hank in there as well.

It also appears like Peggy is more off the deep end than we realized. We knew she sort of had her own agenda and motivation, but she's literally more concerned about her conference than the fact her husband is sitting in jail after killing someone while his future business burned down. I can see her doing something realllllly stupid here in the near future.
Bobcat06

Everyone understands that Peggy escaped Dodd and the rest to go to Sioux City for Lifespring, correct?
