I've only seen him in Warfare and don't remember his performance in it. So, no opinions on how he matches the caracter other than I hope he shapes up at least a little from the pics I'm seeing online so that he loses the round face and looks a little more like the comic Cyclops.

He has the right body type and face that will do well with the marvel workout. Cooper Hoffman was heavily rumored and he really did t have the look

Lol, we all know what Pratt looked like in Parks and Rec, so they can certainly take a doughy guy and mold him somewhat. Its funny that actresses will complain how sexist it is to expect them to get in great shape for these roles, meanwhile Pratt, Hemsworth, Evans, etc. worked their asses off without complaint so that Marvel could provide the female viewers with the obligatory shirtless scene in every movie.

Don't forget Kumail Nanjiani getting ripped for Eternals only to have his shirtless scene cut; which is just about the most Dinesh thing ever.

Thats why I liked Angelina Jolie for Tomb Raider. She knew the assignment and went all-in giving the fans what they wanted.

Can't imagine what might be said now if she tried that…the Tomb Raider were getting now is…well…not Angelina…

Man, that pic looks like its been heeaavily touched up. Just the lighting between his face and body. Go google shirtless pics of him and there are actual shirtless pics of him that don't come close to that level of definition. But, maybe its legit. What the real pics do tell me that he can "easily" achieve a much more ripped look with heavier weight training and a diet cutting down on the fats.

Now, excuse me while I go clear my browser history and cache.

Yeah, no need for you to do so now I suppose, I've already taken the hit to my browser for us all. But I can now say that yes, he'll fit right in as Cyclops, IMO. Now time to google a bunch of Sydney Sweeney photos as a palate cleanser.

Man, I was kind of rooting for Pelphrey to land the Professor X role. He could have brought something really different and empathetic to the role. And while I like Abbot, I just don't see him as Xavier at all, not even remotely. Which, it sounds like, hopefully leaves Bill Skarsgard, who I think would be a fine choice...

And as much as many say that superheroes are over, comic book movies are over, Marvel is so over, the box office says otherwise. And you know what else says otherwise? The unending speculation and rumor-mongering of who is, or isn't, in the new X-Men feature.

So far, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers have a legitimate foothold on the call sheet. But Marvel has been reading and testing actors for months (and as rumors have it, Marvel could have a banger of a reveal at next week's D23).

But what is real and what isn't? Well, there was an Asa Butterfield rumor this week. That one we can tell you was way off base. But what is true is that another Asa… Asa Germann of Scream 7 and Gen Vdid test for Cyclops. He clearly didn't get it, but is it possible he was awarded another role? Marvel isn't responding.

(And while we're on the subject of Cyclops, we can tell you there was strong interest in Cooper Hoffman, according to sources, but scheduling nixed that idea pretty early on.)

Then there are the Professor X rumors. Bill Skarsgard seemed to have emerged from certain quarters who certainly seem so certain about their claims. We can tell you with certainty that Christopher Abbott (Tony Award nominee for Broadway's Death of a Salesman) and Tom Pelphrey (HBO's Task, Amazon Prime Video's Outer Range) both tested for the role…and Pelphrey did not get it. But did Abbott? Or is it possible a dark horse contender nabbed? Marvel isn't responding

And we haven't even touched the Adam Driver of it all. Magneto? Pshaw. Or more like, Sebastian (p)Shaw?

Anyway, if we had a hands up in frustration emoji available, we'd use it now. All eyes are on next week's D23.

Of those, I could do without Smith or Murphy. I like them both, just not for Xavier. The other three, though? I'd take any one of them.

Dan Stevens would be a very poetic choice. Skarsgard would be interesting and I think could work, just not who I pictured.

Sounds like they're going young-ish in any case.

I'll watch Matt Smith in anything, the dude just kills any role he's given. And I think he'd make a great Prof X.

If true, I cannot believe Christopher Abbot is Xavier, as he was easily the least interesting/compelling of literally all the names we've heard....

Quote:

Yesterday, I passed along a hot rumor on The Hot Mic about French actress Suzy Bemba being eyed to play Storm in the MCU.

The internet reacted just as I expected - a complete and total meltdown, since many X-Men fans had their hopes set on Jayme Lawson, who worked with Ryan Coogler on Sinners. Coogler isn't directing the X-Men movie, but I'm told that he has been leading the search for Storm, who is slated to appear opposite David Jonsson in Black Panther 3.

Best known for her appearance alongside Emma Stone in Poor Things, Bemba is an accomplished young actress who was featured on Unifrance's 10 to Watch in January 2024, and who was also included in the European Shooting Stars programme at the 2024 Berlin International Film Fest.

Bemba has the dark skin tone that fans of the X-Men comics have been clamoring for over the years, and while she may not have the same profile as Lawson, I was pretty taken aback by how many people took shots at her appearance based on a single photo that I posted in haste during a podcast. It's called Google, people - and a simple search would reveal that Bemba is beautiful. I can also see her opposite Jonsson way more than Lawson.

It's time for filmmakers to stop listening to the internet and start trusting their own instincts. Just look at Will Gluck, blaming the performance of One Night Only on "empirical data" that told him to cut all the sex and nudity from the film because young audiences are "uncomfortable" with that stuff. What a dummy…

Reps for Bemba did not respond to a request for comment.

Originally, I was told to expect four members of the X-Men onstage today - Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Kit Connor (Cyclops), and another actor.

This morning, I was told that the rumors are true - Christopher Abbott is your new Charles Xavier. He will likely be the other cast member in attendance. However, I'm told that Marvel is in the process of closing two more deals, and could have as many as six actors onstage tonight.

Bemba could be one of them… or perhaps Charles Melton… though I wouldn't be shocked to see Adam Driver take the stage, as I'm told that he will, in fact, play the film's villain. My sources don't know who it is yet, but they're leaning toward Mister Sinister, a character teased at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse that the franchise never did anything with. So forget what I said about Sebastian Shaw - that was just conjecture based on Emma Frost's prominent presence in this film.

I watch these trailers and I literally have no idea what is going on or how they got there. I don't remember if vision was alive or dead or what happened to him.

Don't even get me started on wtf is happening in doomsday.

Marvel is a confusing **** show. Everything was fairly easy to follow leading up through all phases until endgame and now here we are with wacky as hell storylines. Trailer looks good but not hard to make a fun avengers trailer.
