The first black panther was really really good and I fully expect this one to be good as well. It's definitely going to be missing Boseman, his charisma was a huge part of the appeal of the first one. Other than Winston Duke I don't see any of the other Wakanda cast members being able to pick up that mantle.
Something tells me that the success of this movie is gonna hinge on the Namor actor's performance.
And I'm already disliking the Riri Williams character just from this trailer. Maybe it's just because I can't stand that waaaay overused "Let's goooooo!" catch phrase that kids say these days, lol. Or maybe it's because I really don't want to see an Ironman replacement in the MCU at this point. Yes I know it's from the comics, but I'm not ready to see a replacement for Tony/Ironman. Its too soon.

I rewatched it not too long ago, and it's even better than I remember. The beginning is basically a James Bond movie in an amazing setting.
Everything until they find his body with the Jabari tribe is top notch MCU. Everything after feels rushed and is pretty MCU repetitive. They also shouldn't have killed of MBJ.
I'm interested to see where they take it and honor Boseman. The Aztec look of the Atlanteans is really cool too.

The fact so many MCU movies have been meh lately is keeping my expectations super low. It also hurts that Boseman is no longer with us.

Love and Thunder kinda has the same problems that Ragnarok has. Theres a weird ass funny movie happening but also a semi-serious normal comic book plot with all the normal superhero themes, serious subject matter, a villain, etc. In Ragnarok these two things are kept mostly separated from each other in the middle of the movie with the more serious stuff happening in Asgard and the most of the goofy stuff happening on Sakaar. In Love and Thunder its very strangely mixed together, they're cracking jokes and then cut to "Jane has cancer" or "Christian Bale kidnapped a bunch of kids." I don't see a huge amount of difference in the humor or my enjoyability of it, but the way the "semi-serious Marvel plot that needs to be in the movie" is blended in wasn't executed as well, and maybe wasn't really a storyline that really fit well with a Taika Waititi type film.Quote:
Finally got around to watching Thor: Love and Thunder the other night. I think just about all of the criticism i read here was justified. A lot of the humor felt forced and out of place. Second half was better than the first. Scene with the kids was really funny. Felt like Natalie Portman kind of phoned it in tbh. Ragnarok was much better and sets the hold standard for Marvel along with GotG.
Count me as probably the only person that's glad Killmonger is gone. Couldn't stand that character. Constantly whining about everything and then determined to enslave the rest of the world. He's an Austin Powers villain

Is Werewolf by Night a series or just a singular episode
If it's a series then that first episode is long. I looked it up and it's over 50 minutes.

New format. Not a feature-length movie, but not the first episode of a series either. It's directed by Michael Giacchino, one of the best and most notable TV/film composers of the past couple decades or so. This was his first directorial effort, though, so I imagine Disney didn't completely trust him with a full feature, so they let him do a little one-hour thing instead.

Like something Disney would put up as a ABC prime time special on a Friday night or against MNF back in 90s?
If you've watched the trailer the intro is a very intentional nod to the old school ABC special presentation intro around the holidays, love it.

Just watched Werewolf by Night. That was such a whimsical, fun, perfectly seasonal idea. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to watch something different this Halloween. I've never seen an old black and white monster movie, but this felt like the perfect homage to what I'd hope the best of them offered, with all the atmosphere, camp, and theater I'd hope for.
