That's my point. If ant man was chronologically before IW, release Antman in april then IW in may.

But that's not what they are doing. They are releasing antman afterwards, which makes me think antman occurs at the same time in the universe. But has to be released after IW because it would spoil IW plot points.

It also explains Antmans absence from IW.

or the movie is just before IW.

if you have seen the trailers for AM&W, there is no way that is after IW.

some of the other MCU movies have similar timing issues in relation to the other MCU movies and their release date.

regardless, we will know in less than 3 months.

Marvel has confirmed its between CW and IW. It explains their absence while setting up how they're going into IW2 to win the day with Captain Marvel

you mean he shrinks to a microscopic level, climbs into Thanos's ear canal, and then returns to normal size?

Best comic book movie ever...

I am curious to see how they handle the events of IW for the TV properties... I wonder if they ignore it or just say its happening somewhere else in the timeline...

Its probably just the aftercredit scene that spoils.

And Antman and Captain Marvel are apparently crucial to part 2.

Are referring to shield or the Netflix stuff? Or both?

The Netflix stuff hasn't been leaning on any film events except the new York invasion. No talk of civil war registration or zakovia.

Shield, however, the moment CA:winter soldier came out, that very week the hydra agents are exposed and the team (who are in shield) are in disarray because of the film.

I saw it this morning and I highly enjoyed it. It wasn't as "fun" as Spider-Man homecoming or Ragnarok, but it was very epic, liked it a lot

See this movie in IMAX.

The 3D is also excellent.

Any predictions on opening weekend? Will it beat TFA?

I'm thinking it edges it out, $250M.

Crazy that those numbers don't even equal production costs yet.

Not saying they won't make money hand over fists before it's all done. Errybody gonna be rich.

ETA: 3-4.

But I see worldwide they're at $600 mm. I thought the $200 was world wide not US

That's an amazing opening weekend.

I misread first post. And for the record I have no question it was going to go above 1 billion. Just saying it's amazing that @ 250 opening weekend wasn't going to cover costs.

So next up is Ant-Man and the Wasp.

What comes after that? Captain Marvel and then the conclusion to Infinity War?

TLJ was well behind IW.

The one it beat out was TFA, which is hugely impressive.

just an incredible 6-month span for marvel...Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther and now Infinity War. that's over $1.25billion in domestic gross ($2.4billion in worldwide gross) and IW has been out one weekend.

they now have six of the ten largest opening weekends (obviously not adjusted for inflation)

I am not so sure it'll be able to land another 140 M Mon-Thur to keep pace with TFA.

Go 1 full year and you add GotG2 and Homecoming.

BP - 1,331.3 (96% RT)
Homecoming - 880.2 (92% RT)
Thor - 854.0 (92$ RT)
IW - 630.0 (84% RT)
GotG V2 - 863.8 (83% RT)
---
4.56 Billion worldwide and it'll top 6 B by the end of IW's run.

I doubt it gets anywhere near TFA's domestic total, but it's still a hell of a feat for opening weekend.

The interesting question is, will it come close to TFA's global total? MCU is huge in China (Star Wars is not), so that could be a difference maker.

For comparison:
TFA - $2.068 B
Avengers 1 - $1.518 B
