That seems to be the consensus - good but not as great as Vol. 1. I love the first one but I'm not holding it as the gold standard either - as long as it's fun and well-written, I'm in. And I'm in for whatever else is next or whatever new characters are introduced or things are set up.

The first really was great but the bar is probably even higher for Vol 2 because Vol 1 was so unexpectedly good. It came in as an unknown, or maybe an expected disappointment in some cases, and it was a movie that turned out awesome. This movie has to live up to that. It could be exactly as good as Volune 1 and feel like a disappointment due to expectations.

Standard for sequels, actually.

I just do not like Black Panther. He is literally the exact same thing as the SubMariner - another unlikable Marvel character.

1. Both are rulers of their nations
2. Both are arrogant, insufferable *******s
3. Both get pissy and quit/return to their homes when things do not go their way
4. Both do not play well with others. Ever,

I generally agree, except there are times where Marvel is smart enough to put them in situations where their attitudes work with the story, like the New Avengers arc leading up to Secret Wars. I also thought Namor was pretty good in the various X-men titles during the period when they created a mutant nation on Alcatraz island prior to the Avengers vs X-men event.

I'm pretty excited for the BP movie though, because I thought he was really good in Civil War.

I doubt they make BP into an arrogant SOB in the films, too.

Exactly right IMO. So few people knew about the Guardians as opposed to the Avengers that no one knew what to expect. And then it was SOOOOO good.

I think there's been a lot of mis-direction by Marvel regarding these movies, and by design. I don't blame them. But, based on that article, and reflecting back to an interview with Feige where he mentioned that A:IW would be very Thanos centric, I have to believe that A:IW will be almost from the perspective of Thanos to some degree. His journey to get the stones, and in the meantime we get to see him wreck shop against the characters we all have watched for a decade. I think that A4 will then be the team we know coming back together to stop this threat that was just developed over a really intense movie. (That may be way off base, but even with a decade of teases, Thanos still isn't really a big threat. I think he has to "win" A:IW to some degree for a big payoff victory to happen in the 4th movie.)

Gotta agree with that thought on Infinity War. To this point, we have only seen Thanos as some big guy sitting n a chair. Not a real dangerous presence. So I think the question is, do any of Earth's mightiest heroes die?

I don't really get what avengers IV is gonna be about if it isn't a direct sequel (in time nature) to IW which is what the word has been these past few days.

I would guess IW is a big battle or series where a or a few original Avengers get killed and Thanos does win, then in IV they come back to beat him, at a great sacrifice.

It's completely possible Thanos shows up in Ragnarok and Guardians 2 to take those 2 stones, right?

I could see it somewhere in Ragnarok, but I don't think he'll pop up in GotGv2.

Well, there's 5 post credits scenes, so one of them could be Thanos attacking Nova Corps. I don't think we need to see him collect every single stone for half a movie.

Also, the tessaract is in Asgard. Maybe it goes missing when Hela wrecks shop. The collector is presumably holding the Aether for Thanos. That's halfway there, and makes him quite powerful to start with.

GotG2 is supposed to be pretty standalone.

And I think some people are reading too much into the talk about Avengers 4 not being part of Infinity War. Originally it was going to be a two part movie, but now it's just a sequel. The movies are released in consecutive years. They obviously tie closely together. I don't expect everything to be resolved at the end of Infinity War. I actually expect it to end pretty badly, let that note land over a year with Ant Man and Wasp, then Captain Marvel, before finally finishing it off in Avengers 4 with a big harrah.

I think Infinity War will likely not even include all of the Avengers together, but separate storylines separated by time and distance that MOSTLY come together at the end.

I tend to agree with you. I think Infinity War is going to be pulled heavy from the Hickman Infinity run from 2012 or 2013. Much more about Thanos getting the gauntlet. I think Avengers 4 will be more from the classic Starlin Infinity Gauntlet story...our heroes dealing with Thanos and a complete gauntlet. I'd suspect the end of Infinity War will bleed over from the Hickman run to the Starlin run, and that is when we will first see "all" of our characters together.

While the movies haven't treated the comic source material as gospel, I'd say this is a very likely scenario.

Nope. Much more likely from the earlier Infinity stories by Jim Starlin.

The Hickman's Infinity was tied too much to his other narratives. The earlier Starlin stories where Thanos is looking to complete the gauntlet are a more direct tie in.

You're probably correct. I'm more versed in the Hickman stuff, and haven't a lot of Starlin other than the actual Gauntlet story line.

I assumed Hickman might be an influence due to some of the set photos/videos out there with actors in mo-cap suits and what that means for possible character inclusion.

The look might be inspired by Hickman, but the story is probably closer to the early 90s Infinity storyline.

That said, most of the key players in the Thanos/Infinity story have been around for decades and keep showing up whenever he does.

"Avengers 4 is a separate movie from Infinity War. That's all I'm gonna say."

I was just discussing the greatness of superhero showdowns with someone. The original comic run of Iron Fist includes some unnecessary-but-great faceoffs with Iron Man, Captain America, and this next issue has him fighting the X-Men. I love it!

As the Weekly Planet podcast calls it, "they punch for a bit and then they're mates." In the MCU, it's still some of the best parts. Thor vs Iron Man. Falcon vs Ant-Man. Hulkbuster fight. Civil War airport scene.

This begs the question:

Will we get a brief misunderstanding-fight between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy???

Please let it happen.

Do they consider credit scenes as "part of" the movie or just MCU filler?
