Good point. I wasn't at all familiar with the American Sniper story previous to the movie, but I do remember that being a big factor in hindsight.

And that's probably the flipside of the discussion about how well you think Hacksaw Ridge will do this weekend. There's buzz in film circles but I don't think nearly as much for your average filmgoer.TCTTS said:
Word-for-word conversation with my dad in Texas, over the phone, opening day...
DAD: "That was one of the best movies I've ever seen. The whole audience was SILENT when it was over. And you couldn't even get out of the theater, there were so many people. Every showing is sold out!"
ME: "I just bought tickets online and ours wasn't even halfway sold out yet."
DAD: "That's California. This is AMERICA. People here are gonna riot if it doesn't win Best Picture."
LOL your dad sounds like he'd be a fun guy to have a few beers with.TCTTS said:

Funny story about your dad's comments, but I have to ask...is there some tie in with Hacksaw Ridge and the MCU that I don't know about?
This Cumberbiatch has tickets.GiveEmHellBill said:
Doctor Strange already doing big business with $86 million overseas.
Better than Ant-Man, Guardians and CA: Winter Soldier. I guess the Cumberb*tches are lining up worldwide for this one...

I am a WWII nut and I must admit I was not familiar with the character featured in Hacksaw Ridge. But I will likely see both movies this weekend, the war movie on Friday afternoon and Dr Strange on Sunday.Sex Panther said:
No chance.
American Sniper was a known story regarding a Red State icon/hero about the current Middle East conflict. This is a WW2 story about a pacifist that no one's ever heard of.

What is inhumans? Marvels version of suicide squad?

But that was years after the movie. I'm talking movie/pilot in theaters one weekend, followed by the very next episode on TV a week or so / month or so later.

Like a way dumber, lamer version of X-Men. Their leader's (shown in that picture) power is that his voice blows up planets or something. So he never talks... Ooooookkk

There may be some good comic storylines. I'll admit I don't know anything about them in that regard.
There have been some decent storylines with them in the comics.aggie1906 said:Quote:
