Well, here we go. First critic screening just let out. You guys know the drill. But for what's it's worth, a couple of these guys I really trust...

So everyone at least liked it. Some loved it. Everyone was impressed usually. I agree 100% this movie may be best watched under the influence.

I don't think you need to see it in 3D, it just has visuals that lend themselves really well to that.

Great to see much more genuine positive responses across the board than we've seen from some other properties early reviews, not to name any names

That's my main question. Can I see this in a normal theater without missing out, or does it need to be 3d, imax, whatever?

I'm not falling for it again. I've seen critics say that 3D added a lot to lots of movies and every time I've come away more annoyed than anything else.

Go see it in IMAX 3D.

They all tie for the top 5. All.

So if this was a DC movie, everyone would say those reviewers were being paid off.

If this was a DC movie the reviews would be much, much worse. To be fair, I've enjoyed DC movies, but the best DC is comparable to Thor 2 & Ironman 3.

Avatar is the only film that really used 3D where I felt like it really helped tell the story, some CG films do it well too. But this is probably a separate thread.

I'm going to see it first in 2D.

But, I have plans to later see it in IMAX 3D. Which I almost never do.

I'm going to see it in IMAX 3D - which wouldn't normally be my preference - for the BSC visuals. You may not get an experience like that again.

I saw Gravity in 3D on a Tuesday morning, long after it had been released. I was literally alone in a cold theater. It was amazing.

After seeing the IMAX 3D preview, this will be the first movie that I HAVE to see in that format.

Can't wait.

Strange is currently at 96%(22/23) on RT.

Got my Strange tickets for opening weekend, Sunday afternoon show.

I'm expecting a traditional Marvel origin story with balls-out visuals. If it has more action than I expect, then I think I will be quite pleased.

Is there any chance Hacksaw Ridge pulls an American Sniper at the box office and beats out Strange next weekend? Currently, Strange is tracking anywhere between $60-$80M+. Sniper had a $90M opening weekend, but it also had a couple weeks of limited release to build buzz, and there was the Eastwood factor as well, of course. And Garfield is no Cooper, but Gibson definitely carries some weight among the red state / conservative / evangelical crowd with Passion of the Christ (and every other hit he's ever had), and Hacksaw has crazy good buzz right now. I think Strange ultimately takes it, and probably by quite a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Hacksaw come out of no where and surprise.
