Therefore I was considering just recording them on my DVR and watching them this way. My only hesitation is that I'd hate to watch them on cable if they are hacked and edited in a way that really takes away from the viewing experience.

For anybody that has seem any of the older Marvel movies on cable, is there a drop in quality?

I've never noticed a difference on cable, just obviously have to deal with commercials

I guess the music doesn't really kick in until the car chase and you could say that isn't the same scene but I love that whole sequence.
This one is also way up there, good call.

Aside from it being just a great action scene, a big part of that sequence is a huge oner where you've got a continuous camera move going through the casino with no breaks for like 60 seconds (with one or two tiny cuts covered up with VFX). Seriously technically amazing.

Re-watched Infinity War on Netflix during my last two workouts.

Damn, this is a good movie. RDJ, Hemsworth, and the that kid that play Spiderman, carried this. And of course Brolin voicing Thanos.

IW is pretty close to masterpiece IMO. What an effort.

IMO, one of, if not the most touching scenes in the entire MCU is Stark post snap on Titan. The quintessential tough guy that doesn't show emotion trying to digest what just happened. It's not even the dialogue, it's the tone of his voice and the facial expressions. RDJ's career is Iron Man.

So I rewatched Spider-Man the other day and had forgotten about the Scorpion appearance in the post credit scene...do we know if that ties in to anything get, seeing as Mysterio is in Far From Home?

It really is Marvel's Empire Strikes Back-an absolute classic that changed the rules of the series while still being entertaining. It gets better every time I see it. Hopefully Endgsme wraps it up nicely.

It really took me back to sweating bullets meeting my date's dad for the first time for Homecoming. But then they turn it on its head a bit in the sense that the guy is ACTUALLY a real life villain. I thought that was so perfect.

If people weren't so hellbent on protesting/torpedoing them we wouldn't have nearly as much of an issue.

If you don't want to see a film, don't go see it. It's not hard people.

The same ridiculousness happened with First Man. The internet is a truly amazing creation, but sometimes people make me wonder if it's worth it.

I think that TLJ but more so Ghostbusters 2016 had a little less to do with some culture war, than the movies not being great. But I think that's topic for a different thread, another time.

AV Club's review seemed to come across as pretty upfront and fair. Still undecided if I'll see it in theaters or wait for streaming.

Not sure if anyone is interested in this at all, but I keep a spreadsheet with all the Marvel movies. It includes my personal rankings, Rotten Tomato scores (Both critic and fan), IMDb Fan score, and Metacritic score. It also includes a column that averages all these together (I know that's not a totally accurate way to use the Tomato scores, as those are a percentage of positive reviews, rather than an actual "score", but I don't care).

My current rankings are removed until I can see Captain Marvel, and I've posted it from a new Gmail account because I still value my anonymity for some weird reason. Also, since Captain Marvel doesn't have a RT or IMDb fan score yet, I've put the average score for a Marvel movie for the time being. Anyway, feel free to use/share/ignore as you please.

A lot of the marketing/trailers leading up to this were pretty subpar, which is concerning. But the worst Marvel film has still been good, so we shouldn't be that worried.

I was in Wal-Mart today (yeah, yeah, Wal-Mart) and I didn't see a single Captain Marvel toy on the shelf. There were still Infinity War and Black Panther toys though. The marketing for this has been odd, like Disney isn't expecting much.

I have a theory y'all can help me put through the wringer:

The best (or maybe "most loved") Marvel movies are those that introduce a tonal shift. They subvert expectations in some way and stand out because they are fresh, but within the MCU context.

- Iron Man was the OG, set a new bar
- Avengers broke out of fairly standard origin stories into the pithy team-up
- Winter Soldier, the 70s spy thriller
- Guardians, the zany and irreverent one
Ragnarok, the biggest "combo breaker" of them all
- Black Panther, I realize not a favorite of many here but definitely one of the most believed Marvel films
-IW, obviously

Does this hold up?
