I enjoyed watching this. Hayden seems like a really nice guy. I think Kenobi has been good for him with alot of the follow-up exposure he's gotten.

All I think about when I see anything related to that show is this meme. It'd probably been shared here before. Don't care.

I'll admit; the show ain't bad. My kid loves it. Nicer to have on our TV than a typical kids show.

Yeah, it's basically Spidey and his amazing friends but Star Wars. It's not terrible and "not terrible" is apparently a hard bar to clear for most kids shows so I'll take this gladly.

I'm just now noticing that kid may only have one hand.

That is meta.

I want to believe, but I may have overhyped it in my own head.

That has to be the first canceled star wars on D+, right? Did any marvel get canceled? Is She Hulk being renewed?

F this. An original show that finally looked cinematic. Some acting was bad but the bad guy was awesome and it had some interesting places to go.

Big thumbs down.

I wouldn't technically consider it a cancellation, but there was talk at one point of The Book of Boba Fett possibly continuing, then that was obviously killed. To the point where Temuera Morrison recently said in an interview that the show was received so poorly he's not going to be in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

As for She Hulk, it sounds like the character will potentially appear in a movie or two, but that the show itself won't be continuing. It's just way too expensive.

Personally, it was one of the most boring, rudderless genre series I've ever seen. It was also the lowest-watched live-action content Disney/Lucasfilm has ever released.

Financially, Disney simply can't afford to screw around anymore.

If anything, this kills the narrative that they're beholden to "woke" ideology, seeing as they just cancelled a show run by a white gay woman, starring a black gay woman, something a number of Disney haters in The Acolyte thread assured us would never happen.

I get that on a certain level it sucks that something "original" was cancelled, but this is unfortunately the state Disney is in right now. If you saw the slate they announced at D23 a couple weeks ago, it's nothing but sequels and spinoffs for the next couple of years, in order to try and get the company/brand back on track. Once that happens, hopefully they'll be able to start taking chances again.

How was it rudderless?

- It seemed like a pretty straightforward direction.
- It was slowly building to something
- It introduced a cool new bad guy whose goal was clearly stated
- It did a good job of turning good characters into bad and bad into good or at least did a good job of changing our perceptions of them.
- It kept mysteries going, answered some of them, then it left some nice threads to take us into season two.

It always knew where it was going to me. If you didn't like the story that's fine but rudderless seems like an inaccurate word to me.

I remember hearing it was woke before watching it and then couldn't figure it out. The show itself was about as unwoke as possible. It didn't deal with any hot button items. I remember seeing a headline about a gender neutral pronoun in the show. Then I saw the episode and good grief, THATS what gets a headline, a joke that had nothing to do with gender neutrality?

It was borderline unwatchable. Only slightly better than book of boba fett.

The entire engine of the show was a flashback we weren't fully privy to until the second-to-last episode. It was all bull**** Mystery Box nonsense that only served to obfuscate motivations in favor of "reveals." Which might have been forgivable if not for the fact that once all was revealed, it turned out the core events hinged on some of the dumbest, most convenient happenstances/misunderstandings ever, which only served to spotlight how bad the writing had been all along. Never mind the abysmal Jedi Temple scenes between Vernestra and her underlings, the shafting of the Wookiee Jedi, and the general, snooze-fest vibe. Sure, the lightsaber fights were cool at times, but IMO those fights were the show's only remotely redeeming quality.

It's really like I watched a completely separate show. I was in the entire time. Did it have things to improve, absolutely, but improve them in season 2. It honestly made me excited for SW for the first time in a while.

The only way it improves is with a better director and more experienced writers. The best actor they had was a character they killed.

I'm really forgiving, particularly with Star Wars, and I tried to give this show the benefit of the doubt and let it find its feet. But other than a couple fun action scenes it just wasn't good.

Characters flipped motivations on a dime, the story and dialogue were clunky, pacing was all over the place, and they made the Jedi incompetent and corrupt. Tons of discussion on this all through this thread if you want details.

If it means extra budget for Ahsoka, then I'm all for it.

Please for the love of God, make that show look cinematic.

I quit watching after three episodes. I find relief in knowing that it won't get a second season, which means I won't have to give it a second shot.

I wouldn't mind an incompetent and corrupt Jedi faction, but it was so poorly done.

You could maybe do a single Jedi, but making the entire Jedi order that way goes against everything we know about them. But you're right that the attempt at it here just didn't work either way.

The grey area in the Star Wars universe has tons of potential, but no one has done a very good job exploring it yet outside Andor.

Maybe I missed the point, but I never understood why these Jedi "at their height" in the high republic were dumber and less skilled than those in the prequels and Clone Wars.

And if this forum almost universally agreed then it had to be pretty bad.

Because the casting directors made anybody and everybody a Jedi over on Disney+. And the way they do it, it's all f'd up. Padawans don't get their finger *****ed. There's no lightsaber or blaster on the table…either the Star Wars canon has meaning or no meaning.
