Still can’t get over the fact that they someone who looks EXACTLY like young Mark Hamill but instead of just letting him play Luke they slap a lifeless deepfake on his face and use AI for the voice 🙃 https://t.co/dc1uYTwPTH pic.twitter.com/Nfy6ESwKEE

Idk, my two cents - you know there is going to be more and more use of AI/Deepfake technology in entertainment, and Star Wars has always been a leader in special effects, so it seems to be a consistent technical decision for the franchise.TCTTS said:Still can’t get over the fact that they someone who looks EXACTLY like young Mark Hamill but instead of just letting him play Luke they slap a lifeless deepfake on his face and use AI for the voice 🙃 https://t.co/dc1uYTwPTH pic.twitter.com/Nfy6ESwKEE

Not true. Ford and Hamill have already done some crazy scanning work so that they can pull it off in a way that even TC will be blown away.TCTTS said:MAYBE you’ll find out tonight… https://t.co/foUbPWo4RR

Have a patient tomorrow that I guess is a pretty big VFX guy. Spent 20 years at Lucasfilm/ILM. Worked on Prequel Trilogy and Mando. Also several Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek, Ready Player One and Marvel/DC movies.
Gonna be hard not to go down the rabbit hole with him
Quote:
Pixar has its biggest movie ever with Inside Out 2. Marvel's Deadpool & Wolverine is tracking to open next weekend to about $175 million domestica new benchmark for an R-rated film. Disney Animation has Moana 2 in November, and the Disney TV group is about to clean up at Wednesday's Emmy nominations. It's not a full recovery, but this summer, Disney C.E.O. Bob Iger is largely delivering on his pledge to fix creative issues at his content engines.
Then there's Lucasfilm, which, on the film side, is still reeling from last summer's $350 million Indiana Jones debacle and is two years away from a Star Wars follow-up to 2019's high-grossing yet creatively disastrous The Rise of Skywalker. Until The Mandalorian & Grogu hits in 2026, Kathy Kennedy has essentially turned Star Wars into a TV-only franchise. Luminate, however, just released some troubling data on The Acolyte, the Disney+ series from Leslye Headland that concludes tomorrow night. The show debuted decently, but cratered 22 percent the following week and kept falling, recovering only slightly in episode six. Disney will probably spin this with internal metrics, but the issue isn't new: Star Wars shows other than The Mandalorian tend to debut strong and then fade unless a fan favorite character or actor like Hayden Christensen appears. In other words, with the possible exception of Tony Gilroy's smart but little-watched Andor, Kennedy has failed to evolve Star Wars from a pure nostalgia play into a vibrant, relevant franchise. "It's still unclear if another Star Wars series can capture the dedicated and broad audience of The Mandalorian," Luminate's Jimmy Doyle writes in the study. "Despite the data, we might be wise to remember the words of Han Solo: 'Never tell me the odds.'"

On one hand, I know why do many people watched Obi-Wan relative to Andor, but on the other hand I would have thought word of mouth would have pushed Andor into better numbers. Especially compared to Boba Fett.
Are those numbers over the lifetime of a show, or what? (I haven't looked at them in great detail yet)
Edit: never mind, I looked closer
