Lucas's original draft of IV had Obi-Wan in a very similar state to how we find Luke in 7/8 - he's got a robot arm, he's pissed about everything, and he is the one who doesn't want to go to Mos Eisley or anywhere else.
I agree, I'm just relaying facts.Brian Earl Spilner said:
That doesn't mean Luke needed to die.
Admiral Ackbar should have done the Holdo, and at the last second as he punches it, they show Hux saying "It's a tr ..." and then that great shot of the star destroyer shredded.TCTTS said:
I still don't understand why they chose that order. 8 should have been Leia's, if only because Luke should have ended the whole thing/been the last man standing, so to speak. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but it should have been Leia who did the "Holdo maneuver," leaving Poe in charge, questioning himself as to whether he was ready or not (while there never should have been a Holdo character, period).
Don’t think this is war on Star Wars, I think they’ve gotten wind that the project needs major rewrites, isn’t going to shoot any time soon, and thus that date is being vacated and free to own. That almost always how these things work.

I randomly decided to search for the KOTOR remake, and as of a week ago reports are is "in the works." However, who knows how far along it is, since the companies controlling it keep being acquired by or leaving other companies.

In other news, Joel Edgerton (non-crispy Uncle Owen) gets it:
" There are 'Star Wars' fans who could write a better 'Star Wars' TV show than you could imagine because they've studied it like the Bible and they've imagined all the threads and they know the histories of all the characters. I think it's worth listening to fans because someone out there is going to go, 'What if this?' And you go, 'Oh, I want to watch that."
